How long does it take the symptoms of malaria to show up?

is it true that when you've been bitten by a mosquito it takes 10days for the symptoms of malaria to show up?

abiFirst name S,
When a person becomes infected, by the female anopheles mosquito, with one of the Plasmodium parasites that cause malaria, he or she will not feel sick immediately. the infected person may feel normal from seven days to several years after infection; however, inside his or her body, the malaria parasites are multiplying. the period between infection with the parasites that cause the disease and the beginning of malaria symptoms is called the malaria incubation period.

The disease may manifest itself after an incubation of days to months. once the parasites build up in the blood, symptoms are non-specific; fever, chills, body aches, diarrhea and vomiting. at this point the only way to confirm is finding the parasites in blood. These early stages resemble many other febrile diseases.

Paroxysms (due to rupture and release of the parasite and metabolic products into the system), happen every 48-72 hours depending on the species.

It could take up to a week (7 – 10 days) to show the first symptoms of Malaria.

You only get the disease if you did NOT get a vaccine for it or if the mosquito that bit you carried the disease.
