I purchased your Library of Food and Vitamin Cures a few weeks ago. my husband started on Propel®. The results have been amazing-beyond what its intended for. I am wondering if this is usual? he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 10 years ago. he walks fairly normally but is slow and has the “freezing” sometimes. he seldom has a tremor but in general is weak.
He reports that the Propel® has awakened his muscles. Most of the soreness is gone. he feels more alive and his mind feels like he has come out of a brain fog. he was walking better in just a few days.
Thank you!-G. & D. K., Elk Grove, California via e-mail
Dr. Wright: Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to tell me, and all of the readers of Nutrition & Healing, about this remarkable result. As you likely suspected, this is the first time I’ve heard of this noteworthy result with the use of the combination of acetyl-L-carnitine, proprionyl-L-carnitine, and alpha-lipoic acid (Propel®). since this combination is very, very safe and has made a noticeable difference for your husband, please continue indefinitely, and let us know after a few months if the effect continues.
I encourage everyone with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease to consider trying this for yourself; again, it’s very safe. and if a family member or good friend is suffering from Parkinson’s, tell them about this possibility so they can consider it for themselves. The usual quantity is 3 capsules, twice daily. one bottle lasts one month, which should be enough to tell if there’s a difference, as described above.
If any readers do this, please send me a letter (c/o Tahoma Clinic, 8101 Southwest 16th Street, Renton, Washington, 98057), or an e-mail to , and let me know whether it worked to reduce Parkinson’s disease symptoms for you, your family member, or friend-or if it didn’t. either outcome is useful information, and if it helps a significant percentage, even if it doesn’t help everyone, we may be able to organize a more formal research study here at Tahoma Clinic.
Even if it doesn’t work for you, you probably know that Professor Bruce Ames’s research has proven beyond a doubt that two of ProPel’s three components-acetyl-L-carnitine and alpha-lipoic acid-are very good for preserving brain cell mitochondrial function (in English: helping to maintain the supply of energy made by the “energy engines”-mitochondria-in brain cells and every other cell, too).
However, G & D reported, “the Propel® has awakened his muscles. Most of the soreness is gone…he was walking better in just a few days.” It’s very likely that the propionyl-L-carnitine is “playing a part” too, as it’s particularly good for muscles.
If you have Parkinson’s, take a cue from G & D, give this a try, and let me know whatever happens, please! I’ll make sure to pass any results along to the Nutrition & Healing community!
