hello, i am a girl in hs and for about 2-3 years now, i have had symptoms associated with tmj. my mouth doesn't open fully, it only opens about 3-4 inches. my jaws would hurt if i chew a lot of hard/taffy like stuff. and sometimes i get lockjaws typically in the morning.
recently though, (about 6months ago) i've noticed my upper jaw has been shifting to the front, not allowing my upper teeth to meet my bottom. it is shifting everyday, now my upper set of teeth or jaw wont meet with my bottom set of teeth. it has a big big gap which if i close my mouth, i can squeeze out my tongue through the gap about 1cm-2cm or so. (so gross/scary) this has caused me to develope a nasty lisp, which i didnt realize at first, my peers told me about it.
I NEVER had a lisp and my upper set or teeth and bottom set ALWAYS matched. i dont know whats happeneing, what can i do in this situation? and my jaw is moving around everyday, relocating it self on my face! my face shape even changed a bit!
ive talked to my dentist about it, but they assigned me to a specialist and i wont see him for another 4-5 months.
and would they give me braces? or surgery? because its pretty serious tmj. AHHH

in case you haven't been told TMJ is a form of arthritis. it can affect any part of your body. it is known as the great deceiver. while you wait for the specialist go to walmart, in the pharmacy dept and get the apparatus that will help you to quit grinding your teeth at night. Stay away from hard foods. it may help to put heat on the side of your jaw (helps mine) try to avoid stress. Look up TMJ on the internet to learn more about it. TMJ stands for Temporal Mandibular Joint. and it is a pain.
Don't be afraid. Evey thing will be ok.

My son was put on steroids after being diagnosed with bells palsy. since he was bite by a deer tick 5 months before any symptoms I am worried he has lyme disease. the blood test was completed and came out negitive. Could the steroids have caused a false negitive?

The most common blood tests for Lyme aren't actually for Lyme itself. They look for antibodies to Lyme. Steroids suppress the immune system, so the body doesn't produce antibodies–hence, a negative test, even though the person may actually have Lyme disease.

That's only one of the reasons you might get a false negative response. there are others, too.

Bell's Palsy can exist without it being Lyme, but Lyme often presents with Bell's Palsy. So, if you son has Bell's Palsy, that's a good reason to thoroughly look at the possibility of Lyme, even with that negative test.

There is absolutely NO test that can rule out Lyme. the tests are awful. Researchers have found that these tests miss 35 to even 50% of culture-positive Lyme disease cases, depending on what study you read.

Steroids are a NO NO with Lyme and that's how many of us get worse who finally find the Lyme diagnosis… if you suspect Lyme, make sure you make an appt with an LLMD, only one in La.. all the testing except a SMALL handful of labs int he courntry are completely inaccurate, the Western Blot by preferrably IGENEX is needed. there are over 300 strains inthe world and 100 + in N America.. the standard tests only use about TEN strains and many are from Europe which is not acceptable.. Even the testing is only 65% accurate in sensitivtiy- again , unacceptable.. anything from steroids down to regular/occasional TYLENOL use can give false NEGATIVES and that's why lyme has to be based on a clinical diagnosis- most of us have our bodies messed up with meds given in error (esp steroids) and by the time we do get the right test, alot are falsly negative… Meds, CMV EBV Mono, etc can all alter the test.. let me know if you have any questions.. I had the same issues for about 5 months, was misdiagnosed many, many times. Finally got gall bladder checked, and hit the jackpot. the gall bladder and pancreas are amazingly connected. Also, the gall bladder is very tricky about where it actually causes pain. it can mask the pain almost anywhere in the abdomen. I learned a lot while we went through all the tests. So, have that checked, then an easy surgery later, you will feel awesome, I do!

The doctors went from kidney stones to broken rib and many other maladies before we got there, so be careful, especially with no insurance.

The cause is calcium built up in your gallbladder, and they turn into stones. they continue coming back, so the gall bladder has to be removed.
The symptoms are stomach pain, back pain, and nausea. Usually upper stomach pain, but can be all over. some times your chest hurts like you feel like your having a heart attack. when you eat spicy, you really hurt, and sometimes throw up. I suffered 4-5 months before I went to ER with severe symptoms. I had my gallbladder removed at age 21. I'm 42.

I'm positive I contracted HPV from a one night stand with a friend. I've been tested for other std's and all is ok with those. I've done all the reasearch so I know about HPV. I guess I'm looking for men who have had a similar experience. My urinary tract began burning immediatly after sex with this woman. I had small bumps break out after three months from contact, that has since cleared. But the the burning which comes and goes & always comes back especially in the afternoon. I'm at 1year 5 months with this and have even considered suicide. I've planned it & even bought 2 to 3 bottles of sleeping pills. I understand that I'll always have this. I just need some light at the end of the tunnel that my pain will go away. I itch, tingle, and most of the time have an aching, burning urinary tract. it does not burn to urinate, its' a more steady thing and even burns worse after urinating. the symptoms you describe are not consistant with hpv. you need to return to the doctor and have your urine tested for a urinary related infection. there's no need to get suicidal over hpv since 85% of the sexually active population has been infected at some point or another. go to a doctor asap and report your urinary and emotional symptoms.

i have h.p.v and i am female and i have had the cancer outbreak never the wart kind…. but anyhow u cant get rid of it and there is no reason that u should try and committ suicide over it…. but i have never heard of that as being a symptom are u sure u don't have something else?????

Patients with osteoporosis, or brittle bone disease, are often given drugs to strength their bones and slow down the thinning.

These drugs can also be given to cancer patients who are suffering with bone loss symptoms such as those with multiple myeloma, where cells in the bone marrow destroy bone leaving it weakened.

The largest and most comprehensive study yet, conducted by British researchers, has now found that one of the drugs, called zoledronic acid, improves survival in those cancer patients as well as preventing bone loss.

The findings were published in the Lancet medical journal and presented at the American Society of Hematology meeting in Orlando, Florida.

Professor Gareth Morgan, of the Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK, and Professors Walter Gregory and Anthony Child, of Clinical Trials Research Unit at University of Leeds compared zoledronic acid against a similar drug, clodronic acid in a group of almost 2,000 patients.

It was found that zoledronic acid reduced mortality by 16 per cent and extended overall survival by 5·5 months from 44.5 months to 50 months when compared with clodronic acid.

The authors wrote in the Lancet: “the improvement in overall survival with zoledronic acid remained significant after adjustment for the reduction in risk of skeletal-related events. These data add to growing clinical evidence supporting anticancer benefits with zoledronic acid in patients with newly diagnosed cancers

“Although we have not definitively identified the underlying mechanism of action, the early improvement in overall survival with zoledronic acid compared with clodronic acid supports early use of zoledronic acid in multiple myeloma.”

In an accompanying comment article, Dr Vincent Rajkumar, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, said other less expensive drugs are available which have fewer side effects than zoledronic acid.

yes i do i had the diaharrea and stomache pain for 5 months and just recently got control of it my protein level was down so i ate alot of foods with protein in them and took immodium everyday try that hope it helps i also bought ibs pills at cvs and took them that cured the pain in my stomache

Back in 2007 I shared my story about Crohn’s Disease. I talked about waiting 5 months, in pain, before I decided to go see the doctor. This was because I was scared.
