LOGAN — a 28-year-old woman is facing felony charges for swapping cigarettes for Adderall with two juveniles in her neighborhood.

Court records show Sunny Morrisette was charged in 1st District Court Friday with seven counts of possession or use of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class B misdemeanor, in connection with the exchanges. the woman apparently admitted to police that she was was “under a lot of stress” when she decided to try the prescription drug,

“(She) had heard good things about Adderall and wanted to try it,” according to a probable cause statement.

The woman then started to trade a brother and sister in her neighborhood their Adderall “and other pills or money” for her cigarettes. She told police the exchanges took place at least 10 times in the month of October, according to the probable cause statement.

Both juveniles also admitted to the exchanges.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, Adderall is a brand of drug that is used to control symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, and narcolepsy and is in a “class of medications called central nervous system stimulants.”

An initial appearance was scheduled for Dec. 19 in the case.

Up to this date, the real cause and major factor for the development of ADHD among children are still unknown. a deeper understanding of this disorder must be extensive in order to see what could be contributory to the development of this disorder. for this reason, many researchers and health care professionals are interested to invest their time and effort in conducting studies which deals with the study of various disorders that affects the young population which include Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Researchers are trying to find out whether the cause of this disorder is something related with heredity and for that matter with the genes that the child is having. Thus, further and extensive researches are conducted to address this inquiry of the possible link between the disorder and the genes of the child.

According to another new study which was published journal Nature Genetics, specific genes found in children with ADHD are involved in signaling pathways which appears to be linked with the said disorder. the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia researchers said that the findings of the study can pave way for new treatment options which will address the specific genes which signals pathways.

The new study involves the analysis and examination of data gathered from the genes of about 1,000 children who have ADHD. Also, another 4,100 children with no ADHD were included in the study. the findings of the research are then compared and evaluated based on the findings of other researches which involve analysis of a number of children with ADHD.

The researchers conducted series of genome analysis and this revealed that about 10 per cent of the study participants who have ADHD actually had variations in the sequences of the DNA. this means that there are either deletions or duplications in the DNA sequences of the children with ADHD. Specifically, variations were found on the four genes which are part of the glutamate receptor gene family.

Moreover, according to study leader Dr. Hakon Hakonarson, director of the Center for Applied Genomics at Children’s Hospital, he said: “members of the GMR gene family, along with genes they interact with, affect nerve transmission, the formation of neurons, and interconnections in the brain, so the fact that children with ADHD are more likely to have alterations in these genes reinforces previous evidence that the GMR pathway is important in ADHD.”

A UK psychologist believes untreated ADHD is a significant underlying cause of crime.

Dr. Susan Young, at Broadmoor Hospital, shares her beliefs in a paper in which she explores the connection between ADHD and criminal activity.

Young believes early intervention can reduce crime and actually divert youths from a criminal path.

The paper, co-written by Emily Goodwin, King’s College London and Institute of Psychiatry, was published in the Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, an international journal on drugs and medicines in clinical neurology and neuropsychiatry.

Young said, “Failure to recognize and treat ADHD offenders is likely to have serious consequences for mental health and social outcomes.

“The high rates of ADHD among this group, the consumption and costs of the resources they incur, mean that it is not a condition we can afford to ignore. Given that ADHD is a treatable condition with interventions available that are used to effectively treat ADHD symptoms and related behavioral problems in the general population, the enormity of this problem and its associated costs are too great to bear.”

I am wondering if there are any links between diabetics eating too much sugar and being hyperactive, easily distracted, having memory loss, etc (exhibiting ADHD-like symptoms). I have personally just found out that I have very high blood sugar (close to diabetes) and also have been diagnosed with ADHD by some, and not by others. Could I be acting hyperactive only when eating too much sugar?

No if you are ADHD and are a diabetes you need to lower the amount of sugar you intake like cookies, pop and certain fruit have a lto of sugar in them. both my parents are diabetic and when my dads blood sugar was high his eye Dr told him that he has bean high. I know for a fact when your blood sugar is low you feel hungry shakey and sometimes sweaty but when it is high you really cant feel that it is high there are NO symptoms you can only take your blood sugar.

I do not want to medicate my adhd 5 year old.I am looking into occupational therapy.
Anyone tried this or another type of therapy that has helped with these symptoms.Any other advice is welcomed.thanks.

I dont think that I have ADD or ADHD because I dont seem to be hyperactive. when it comes to listening in school and reading something more than a page it takes SO MUCH to focus on what I'm doing. I truly honestly want to be a good student but it seems impossible some times. I have a job that requires me to read chapters and big packets, once again it takes a lot.

What could my doctor do, if anything?

Simplify then. I'll make it very simple, just pay attention.

I highly suggest you see the book "the ADD Book" by Sears and Thompson. It is excellent and talks about all aspects of the disorder; managing with diet, natural remedies, meds., behavior modification, etc.

I make a list of things to do, making time frames for each one.

(ex.. work from 8-5, dinner 6-7, bath 9-9:30)

It helps me out, I have two kids with ADHD, and a husband also.

Evryone in the house has a time sheet of things to do, and they seem to do it pretty good.

My son has ADHD and is currently under medication but I was thinking that maybe hypnosis might help him to remember the simple things in school. His teachers have to tell him over and over again to do simple things like raise your hand before speaking, etc. if anyone is a hypnotist or has been hypnotised for ADHD only or knows of someone who has used it for ADHD please feel free to share.

I suffer from ADD (well ADHD, since they're both now considered one singular disorder and I've never been treated for it.) and I do believe that I have an addiction to caffeine. I can't seem to go a day without having some type of caffienated drink. What would be the best way to quit? I want my mind to be sharp when spring comes around since I'm going to start college.

treatment for ADD is a stimulant just like caffeine, so the answer to your question is NO!!

Caffeine should have a calming effect on you.

She's really skinny, yet she eats all the time. she has to go for tests for ADHD today, though. any thoughts?
