<p><i>Answer by anpianomd</i>Dopamine &#105;&#115; &#111;&#110;&#101; of the neurotransmitters &#116;&#104;&#097;&#116; &#105;&#115; utilized in the brain. In Parkinson&#8217;s Disease, &#116;&#104;&#101;&#114;&#101; &#105;&#115; &#097; decrease in the production of dopamine due to the degeneration of the cells &#116;&#104;&#097;&#116; produce &#116;&#104;&#101;&#109; (found in the striata nigra). The goals of treatment therefore &#105;&#115; to increase dopamine &#119;&#104;&#105;&#099;&#104; maybe &#097;&#112;&#112;&#114;&#111;&#097;&#099;&#104;&#101;&#100; by using drugs &#119;&#104;&#105;&#099;&#104; stimulate more production (dopamine agonists) or to replace dopamine (Levodopa/Carbidopa combination).
