I do not want to go to the doctors but I am having a sore throat. It isn't accompanied by a fever. I had a very runny nose however a few days ago, could this be causing my sore throat? is it strep? If so will taking augmentin twice a day for 6 days cure it?

Strep can be adequately diagnosed only by swab and culture.

Obviously, the Augmentin was not prescribed for you.
It is quite dangerous to take medication prescribed for someone else – for many reasons.

You probably have one of those common viruses that circulate in the Spring. NO antibiotic will cure a viral infection.

Either wait it out or see a physician.
