6 months ago a did some blood work to see how things looked in there. I've been on a drinking binge for years up to that point. they said my triglyceride level was too high (462) and I was at risk for panreatitis. Being the drunk that I was I continued drinking and had this funny pain, but mild in my abdominal area. I looked up symptoms for pancreatitis and noticed I experienced some in the past, such as feeling nasuas in the morning, stincky poo, once I remember feeling sore in the abdominal area at one other time, but I never had any serious pain. well I quit my old ways, but after a few weeks I started drinking occasionally, about once a week or two and never more than 3 or 4 beers. for the first time in my life I've been able to control my drinking, simply out of this great fear that if I kept up my ways, I would eventually be hospitalized. well in this past half year I haven't had any of those symptoms, but I'm afraid those 3 or 4 beers once every week or two will still screw me over one day. I don't wanna quit completely, I think this fear will continue to control my ways, but what do you think? does this sound serious enough to where I should quit completely?

My little brother who is roughly 22 is in college now and called me to get my advice cause he'd been experiencing light abdominal pain. Now I know he drinks a lot cause he's honest with me and that's a good thing. From what he tells me he drinks enough to get him drunk 4-5 nights out of the week. He's not a big guy (5'-7" and about 180) but enough to get him drunk would be about six or seven beers and maybe a shot or two. the thing is he's been doing this for about 3 months now (beginning of school year to now.) He says he hasn't noticed any yellowing of the skin,eyes or any other pain, just a slight discomfort in his abdomen and lower chest. I guess what I'm asking is is liver disease something that develops over a longer period of time or could it develop in a couple months? I've already told him that the main thing is to prevent the development of poor habits which will cause him to behave this way beyond his college years, but I just wanna gauge his risk factor at present.

Have him get a blood test that measures liver enzymes. There are cases of death caused by 3 drinks a day plus Tylenol. Rare, but it depends on the person. anyone who is taking strong meds for arthritis and such is monitored for elevated liver enzymes and all medication is stopped if the levels increase. you really do not want to wait till your skin turns yellow and permanent damage has occurred. He also needs to find a different form of entertainment.

Different people react differently to alcohol. I had friends at college who caused themselves severe liver problems from getting drunk everynight, even though they were very young and tough. I also had friends who got drunk everynight for 30 or 40 years, with no visible problems, then suddenly dropped dead. only a thorough medical check up will tell if your brother has already damaged his liver. if he hasn't yet, he will one day, so whatever, it is best if he stops drinking to excess as soon as possible because the demon booze will get him one day if he doesn't

I know what a hangover is, and this is something completely different. I drink plenty of water and have a more than healthy diet. I take precautions before a night out and these headaches are different from the usual throbbing headaches produced from an evening of partying. they seem to be directly sinus related, which is a dull, congested type of pain behind my forehead and nose. sometimes I will drink just a few beers and wake up early with these symptoms. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I am possibly allergic to some specific ingredient? Trust me, I know what a hangover is and this is very different and specific.

There is a long list of sites if you google " sinuses and drinking alcohol". the reason I didn't just post one of them is that there are to many to choose from. but the gist is that blood vessels dilate , and nasal membranes swell when drinking alcohol , and makes you feel like you've been in the pool to long. but i wouldn't rule out a sinus infection . those make your head hurt .

it could definatley be allergy.
yeast, or something else.
I would try drinking something else,
like vodka.
