Can anyone tell me the symptoms and causes of pelvic inflammatory disease? how long can you have it before any symptoms begin to show? Is bloody discharge a symptom?

the sign would be abnormal bleeding or a bloody discharge. however, with cervical cancer you do not want to wait for symptoms because that means it is bad already. cervical cancer is a preventable disease. you can prevent it by getting regular pap smears so that any abnormalities can be detected early and treated before it progresses to cancer. cervical cancer cases have gone down significantly since the pap was discovered and will go down even further in the future due to the new hpv vaccine.if you are not yet sexually active- run dont walk- and get the hpv vaccine.

I am 25 and am sure there is something wrong with me. I last had my period and it lasted about 3 1/2 weeks. after it ended I have been having bloody discharge, sometimes brown, when I wipe on a daily basis. I also have been very ache around my pelvic area, and hurts during intercourse.I do not have a spleen so I have a very weekend immune system, so I can “catch” things easier and have nothing to fight off any infections with out antibiotics.I am not currently sexually active and was screened in the past 6 months for STD’s but have had intercourse once since the then. when I look up my symptoms I seem to always come back to Cervical Cancer – STD infection – or some other kind of plevic area infection. I do not have insurance, so I was wanted opinions on weather or not you think i should go to the ER? is this severe enough to do to the ER? and do you think they would just treat it lightly or actually screen for std and or cancer ?I just don’t want to go to the ER and they tell me oh well you need to do to the Gyno when I don’t have insurance and can’t afford it, but I am getting a little worried since the symptoms won’t let up and it’s been 2 months now. any advice is greatly appreciated.
