Me and my girlfriend had sex two weeks ago and she is getting pregnancy symptoms but she is really paranoid and only gets them when she thinks about being pregnant. Is she just paranoid about loosing her future in college cause were only 18??

When a girl thinks she is pregnant, her brain tricks her body into thinking that also.
So that's probably all it is, but if she misses her period, then start worrying.
But, it might be a little late, because she is thinking she is pregnant, so wait for a week after her period starts, and then get her a test.
good luck.

you can tell your pregnant two weeks after conception is she late? but yes you can have symptoms in same cases people have had there breast get milk belly grow morning sickness etc but are not even pregnant your mind is powerful

It could be either or. Your brain plays tricks on you…maybe she should get on birth control.

Doctors sometimes do an early detection cancer screening with an annual physical exam, but on the most common cancer such as breast for women or prostate for men. this assumes that you faithfully call every year for your annual physical exam. Unless you tell the doctor which cancers run in your family, you will not get screened for those cancers. You need to ask your doctor to screen you regularly for all the cancers that run in your family.

There are early detection tests for all major cancers except pancreatic cancer. Early detection makes most cancers treatable and/or curable. a common example is Prostate Cancer. a rapidly rising PSA (blood test), taken every 6 months if you have a family history of this cancer, will detect this cancer in most cases. this must be followed by other tests to confirm a positive diagnostic.

It depends on the type of cancer. if you have breast cancer then do self exams monthly and don't forget to run down your side and up in your pit. if your hubby is in the age range of 15-25 he needs to examine his testicles for lumps to check for testicular cancer, he should continue these exams past the age of 25, but most testicular cancer hits men within this age group. if there is colon cancer or colorectal cancer then colonoscopy should be performed at a younger age and on a regular basis if their is a family history. It is just as important to listen to your body and notice anything that’s different, odd, or unexplainable. you need to be aware of what to look for and when to seek help.

Here are a few screening tips. Remember that these symptoms do not necessarily mean that you have cancer, but if they are persistent or bothersome, then you need to be checked by a physician.

Look for one or more of the following: Unexplained weight loss, bloating, breast changes, between-period bleeding or other unusual bleeding, skin changes, difficulty swallowing, blood in the wrong place, gnawing abdominal pain and depression, indigestion, mouth changes, pain, changes in the lymph nodes, fever, fatigue or persistent cough.

Work hard to keep those resolutions of having a healthy weight, eating good foods and getting into that desired dress size.

And don’t forget to get your recommended health checkups and cancer screenings. if symptoms you experience are persistent or bothersome, have them checked by a physician.

Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy 2011.

Just looking for personal experiences… how early did you first start to experience pregnancy symptoms? And what were the most prominent ones?

Back aches at 20+ weeks! Yes, that was the first for me. I thought I'd just done something to my back to hurt it, but turned out I messed up on BC and was pregnant.

within 2 weeks I couldn't stand the taste of a cigarette…by 4 weeks I was throwing up all day long and then no period was the final.

I first felt the first symptoms at 4 weeks!!! my breast were VERY sore and larger then i remembered, it was like an overnight change. About a week later a started throwing up, morning sickness in the middle of the night, the worst ever, it felt worse then cramps, but luckly it only happened 2 nights.

With my first, it was right before my period was due, I have very sore breasts, they felt swollen. then at 6 weeks I started to feel nauseous and vomiting. I am now 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with no prominent signs of pregnancy. my breast are a little sore, but nothing much. And smells have bothered me, but no morning sickness yet!!

I think araound 5 weeks (starting with nausea, then moving to vomiting and SORE boobs), and it got worse until about 10 weeks, I'm still tired as hell, and gag over everything and my boobs are probably still just as sore I'm just used to it.

Some people are lucky enough not to get any symptoms, I had none with my first two pregnancies, now this baby is kicking my behind…..

My first my I started morning sicness around 8 weeks. Second around 6 weeks (that one was a m/c) 3rd preg my boobs were really sore and i was really tired at 5 weeks (m/c that one to) 4th same as the the 3rd at 5 weeks. now my 4th (and wish me me luck) at 3 weeks my boobs were really sore and so far at 6 weeks almost nothing else!

the nausea at 5 weeks and actual throwing up at 6 weeks omg that was the worst. it lasted til my 10th week but luckily dnt get it anymore but i think its cuz im ending the trimester..and really sore boobs that hurt so bad.

4 weeks with my first pregnancy which was a miscarriage, I had a bit of morning sickness and I had fatigue, had to take a nap every day. 3 weeks with second, fatigue and 4 weeks with morning sickness. never vomitted. my breast was terribly sore and swelling with both of the pregnancies. also some cramping which was my uterus growing.

I didn't have very many. I wasn't sick that much but really nauseous. AND EXTREMELY TIRED!! I didn't get symptoms until around 6-8 weeks.

From what I have heard, acid reflux can cause the burning. I believe that ulcers are accompanied by blood in the stool. I am no doc! You could always go for a second opinion if you don't believe you have been examined thoroughly enough or that your symptoms need more consideration.

What is Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease (CD) is a genetic disorder. in people with CD, eating certain types of protein, called gluten, sets off an autoimmune response that causes damage to the small intestine. this, in turn, causes the small intestine to lose its ability to absorb the nutrients found in food, leading to malnutrition and a variety of other complications.
The offending protein, gluten, is found in wheat, barley, rye, and to a lesser extent, oats (WBRO). Related proteins are found in triticale, spelt, kamut. Refer to grains and flours Glossary for a more extensive list of both safe and offending grains.

Celiac Disease is:
· a genetic, inheritable disease.
· linked to genetically transmitted histocompatibility cell antigens (HLA DR3-DQ2, DR5/7 DQ2, and DR4-DQ8).
· COMMON. Approximately 1 in 133 people have CD, however, only about 3% of these have been diagnosed. this means that there are over 2.1 million undiagnosed people with celiac disease in the United States.
· characterized by damage to the mucosal lining of the small intestine which is known as villous atrophy.
· responsible for the malabsorption of nutrients resulting in malnutrition.
· linked to skin blisters known as dermatitis herpetiformis (DH).
· not age-dependent. it may become active at any age.
Celiac Disease is NOT:
· simply a food allergy.
· an idiosyncratic reaction to food proteins (mediated by IgE).
· typified by a rapid histamine-type reaction (such as bronchospasm, urticaria, etc.).
The Damaging Proteins
The term "gluten" is, in a sense, a generic term for the storage proteins that are found in grains. in reality, each type of protein – gliadin in wheat, secalin in rye, hordein in barley, avenin in oats, zein in corn and oryzenin in rice – is slightly different from the others. the "gluten" in wheat, rye, barley, and in a much lower amount, oats, contains particular amino acid sequences that are harmful to persons with celiac disease. the damaging proteins are particularly rich in proline and glutamine (especially the amino acid sequences which are in the following orders: Pro-Ser-Gln-Gln and Gln-Gln-Gln-Pro). as peptides, some such as 33-MER, cannot be broken down villi in the small intestine, reducing their ability to absorb nutrients. it is important to note that these sequences are NOT found exactly what activates the disease, however three things are required for a person to develop CD:
· A genetic disposition: being born with the necessary genes. the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) genes specifically linked to celiac disease are DR3, DQ2 and DQ8.
· A trigger: some environmental, emotional or physical event in one’s life. While triggering factors are not fully understood, possibilities include, but are not limited to adding solids to a baby’s diet, going through puberty, enduring a surgery or pregnancy, experiencing a stressful situation, catching a virus, increasing WBRO products in the diet, or developing a bacterial infection to which the immune system responds inappropriately.
· A diet: containing WBRO, or any of their derivatives.
Summary
Celiac disease is life-long and currently incurable. the only known treatment at this time is strict adherence to a gluten-free lifestyle, free of WBRO.

How is Celiac Disease Diagnosed?
When working with a physician to diagnose and/or confirm celiac disease (CD), three major steps are taken. First, a thorough physical examination is conducted, including a series of blood tests, sometimes referred to as the Celiac Blood Panel. second, a duodenal biopsy is performed with multiple samples from multiple locations in the small intestine. And third, the gluten-free diet is implemented. When the patient shows a positive response to the diet – symptoms subside and the small intestine returns to its normal, healthy state – the diagnosis of CD is confirmed.
(NOTE: To ensure the most accurate and timely diagnosis, the gluten-free diet should be implemented only after the first two steps have been completed.)

1: Examination
Patient History
When reviewing a patient's medical history and symptoms with a physician, the following areas should be considered in the discussion: (The first three are applicable to adults and children. the last is specific to children.)
· What are the symptoms? how long have they been present? how often do they occur?
· What is the patient's emotional state? is it consistent throughout the day? When and for how long do the symptoms occur?
· What else is involved? other diseases? other organs?
· How is the child developing?
See What are the Symptoms of Celiac Disease? for a thorough list of possible symptoms.
Physical Examination
Depending on the presentation of symptoms, the physician will check for some of the following items:
· emaciation
· pallor (due to anemia)
· hypotension (low blood pressure)
· edema (due to low levels of protein, [albumin] in the blood)
· dermatitis herpetiformis (skin lesions)
· easy bruising (lack of vitamin K)
· bone or skin and mucosa membrane changes due to vitamin deficiencies
· protruding or distended abdomen (intestine dysmotility)
· loss of various sensations in extremities including vibration, position and light touch (vitamin deficiency)
· signs of severe vitamin/mineral deficiencies which may include: · -diminished deep tendon reflexes
· muscle spasms (magnesium and/or calcium deficiency)
· bone tenderness and bone pain (due to osteomalacia)
Blood Tests
A number of tests, sometimes collectively referred to as the Celiac Blood Panel, will aid the physician in diagnosis. the tests may include, but are not limited to:
· Serologic Tests
1.
