signs of sinus infection can sometimes be very subtle, but they can make you feel very ill. one of the classic symptoms is the feeling of pressure in your head when the weather changes. your sinuses are basically cavities in your head that keep pressure on an even keel, and when the weather pressure changes, then the sinuses can not do their job if they are infected or if there is a blockage. if a storm is coming and your head is aching, this might be be your sinuses, but that does not mean you have an infection.

One of the indicators of sinus infection symptoms is when that pressure is so awful that you have to go and lie down and you find that medications for your cold are not really working. Another symptom is mucus coming out of your nose that is green or even yellow in colour (although this can also be the sign of a chest infection).

If you start to feel the signs of sinus infection coming on, you maybe able to handle it yourself. take a steamy shower, as this can help you to clean out your sinuses. take some everyday, over the counter remedies to see if those help with your symptoms. but if this doesn’t work, then I’m afraid it’s time to go in to see your doctor. He Or She will be able to tell you if it is an infection that requires an actual prescription.

I have a VERY sore throat that usually comes in the evenings but not always but it is on the left side of my throat…sometimes it moves to the other side of my throat as well….it can't make up it's mind!…nausea…bloating….general malaise…plugged ears….mostly my left one.I have had oral sex with a man (given and received) without a condom. should I go and get checked for stds or do you think I may just have some sort of cold/flu/other weird chest infection. Oh….and sometimes I am coughing up phlegm.

Sounds like a Flu/Cold the sympotoms you have. But you should get checked for stds anytime you do something with a new partner and don't have a condom or dental warp.

Sounds more like you have a cold. But, if you're worried, don't take my word for it. go see a doctor.

the only real worry for oral sex is contracting herpes (cold sores) Sounds like you have a cold.

You should get tested as you had unprotected sex and a sore throat can be a sign of an std and it is better to be safe than sorry
nausea…bloating can be a sign of stomach problems like an ulcer or irritable bowel syndrome so see a doctor for tests and follow up as there could be more than one problem happening at once

the chances of you catching std's through oral – genital contact is highly unlikely, what you caught is probably a common cold, he could've been recovering from a cold, or just catching one, i'm sure you can tell if it was a full blown out cold, but go to the dr's anyway for reassurance.

it actually sounds like an inner ear infection which can give you ALL the symptoms you described above. go to the doctor, he'll be able to tell simply by looking in your ear if it's infected. if he says your ears are fine, then maybe consult him about your oral sex.

regardless, be careful who you're fooling ariound with.

New research from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for Lung Cancer Awareness Month shows a low awareness of the key symptoms of lung cancer, the UK’s biggest cancer killer. In the season of winter colds and flu, the Society is advising people not to ignore a persistent cough or chest infection that doesn’t clear up, as it could be a sign of something more serious.

“If you don’t recognise a symptom is important, then you won’t realise you need help”, said Graham Phillips, community pharmacist and Board member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

“many people will repeatedly buy cough medicines or maybe iron tablets for tiredness and a lack of energy. If you find yourself doing this, then ask your pharmacist for advice. We can discuss your symptoms with you and help you understand you may have an underlying problem that needs checking out with your GP,” he added.

“Early detection of lung cancer saves lives. when symptoms are present and recognised at an early stage, treatment is much more likely to be successful. Pharmacists can play a vital role in this by talking to people with the relevant warning signs,” he said.

When asked to name warning signs or symptoms of lung cancer, only 33% of those questioned in a Royal Pharmaceutical Society/YouGov survey identified having a cough as a warning sign, while a further 11% specifically mentioned a persistent cough, which is a key symptom.

Just under half of those surveyed (48%) said breathlessness, breathing difficulties and wheezing were a warning sign, whilst only 29% mentioned having blood in the phlegm or coughing up blood as an indicator. A further 15% mentioned chest or lung pain and 10% mentioned weight loss as symptoms.

Almost 4 out of 5 (78%) said they would like their local pharmacist to talk to them if they were displaying any symptoms of lung cancer before they had noticed them, and 92% recognised that treatment is most effective in the early stages of the disease.

When questioned, 66%* of people said it was likely they would consider some of the key symptoms of lung cancer to be a bad cold or cough or nasty bout of flu, rather than symptoms of lung cancer, if they had them.

“whatever the time of year, if you can’t seem to shake off symptoms that seem similar to colds and flu, such as a persistent cough or chest infection, or if you keep losing your voice, feel breathless or tired and lacking in energy, then ask your pharmacist for advice instead of buying an over-the-counter medicine or picking something up in the supermarket,” said Graham.

“your pharmacist can also help you to stop smoking, the cause of 90%** of cases of lung cancer. We are open evenings and weekends, are easily accessible on the local high street and can provide confidential advice without an appointment,” he added.

Dr Jesme Fox, Medical Director of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, which is working with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to promote lung cancer awareness, said: “Lung cancer has extremely poor survival rates and one of the reasons for this is that the disease tends to be diagnosed at a very advanced stage, when there are limited treatment options.

“Pharmacy staff can play a key role in the fight against lung cancer and we hope this campaign will help to increase early detection of the disease as this can save lives.”
