Gallbladder attacks usually occur after eating a large fatty meal. The pain is felt in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen (under your ribs on the right side) which is where your gallbladder is located. The pain may radiate to the right shoulder blade or back.
Avoid eating fatty foods. go to a doctor and get an ultrasound for a diagnosis of gallstones.

Sometimes when I get really depressed and start crying I have these symptoms that are almost like a panic attack: raging heartbeat, difficulty breathing, dizziness, nausea, chest pains, distress, chills, and fear that I am going crazy. sometimes its so intense I pull my hair. The only thing missing to make it a panic attack is the actual panic and fear. Is there any medical or psychological disorder that matches these symptoms? or am I just having a minor panic attack?

Would you know if you were having a heart attack? the answer may not be as simple as you think.

After a recent bout with the flu, 49-year-old Scott Conner thought his flu symptoms were lingering when he experienced chest pains at 4 a.m.

“the proverbial elephant was sitting on my chest that morning,” said Conner. “I thought it was just really bad congestion from the flu, or maybe indigestion. the pressure lasted about two hours.”

Conner said he continued to feel lousy all day but, convinced it wasn’t a big deal, didn’t want to go to the doctor. He had suffered similar heavy feelings in his chest off and on for the past couple of years. Conners shrugged off the earlier signs, figuring he was just out of shape.

“my wife insisted that I go see a doctor, and she made me the first appointment she could find available,” said Conner. “I went to Dr. Joseph Gibbons at 3 p.m. that day.”

“his story and symptoms were classic and consistent with problems of the heart. a lot of people believe they are experiencing indigestion, when really it is a heart attack,” said Gibbons.

According to Dr. Gibbons, keeling over from a massive heart attack is not as common as people may think. What is much more common is what’s known as “silent M.I.” silent myocardial infarction typically leaves people unsure of what, exactly, is wrong.

“a lot of times people will feel chest pressure or think they have indigestion,” said Gibbons. “Typically people will go through periods of feeling bad and, after resting, they will feel a little better.” This falsely leads people to believe that symptoms they’re experiencing aren’t associated with their hearts.

After examining Conner, the doctor sent him to the emergency room at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial.

“they told me I had suffered a heart attack,” said Conner. “I got sent to ICU and, while I was there, my chest started hurting again. my left arm was hurting too.”

Conner was transferred to Moore Regional for an emergency catheterization and had two stents placed in his heart. He said he started feeling better as soon as 11 p.m. that night.

“I received great care,” said Conner. “the doctors and staff at FirstHealth treated me with dignity, and gave me the best care possible. I’m grateful to them all for taking such good care of me.”

Conner is now incorporating regular exercise into his life, and has changed his eating habits. He claims that eating less sugar, saturated fat and salt isn’t as hard as it may seem. his nutritionist advised him not to deny himself the things he craves, but to eat less of those while eating more whole foods. it seems to be working because he’s lost about 25 lbs.

“I’m making a great recovery and feel better than I have in years,” Conner said. “Sometimes you don’t know how bad you felt until you feel good.”

Conner hopes sharing his story will help increase awareness about heart attacks.

“who knows what would have happened if my wife hadn’t insisted that I go to the doctor,” said Conner. “I didn’t think what was happening was that big of a deal – I was determined to ignore it.”

So, how do you know if you’re having a heart attack? the pain of a heart attack can feel like bad heartburn. some other symptoms that may, but don’t always, accompany a heart attack are: chest pressure; sweating; dizziness; nausea; pain in left arm or left side of jaw; tightness in the chest; shortness of breath for more than a couple of seconds; feeling weak or faint; or sudden overwhelming fatigue.

If you think you may be having a heart attack, don’t attempt to drive yourself to the hospital. Chew an aspirin while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Risk factors associated with higher risk of heart attack include: smoking; diabetes; age; high cholesterol; high blood pressure; family history; atherosclerosis; lack of exercise; stress; and obesity.

“Knowing the risk factors is key,” said Gibbons. “It’s important to coordinate with your physician to try and manage the risks before they cause a problem.”

My mother has been having chest pain with difficulty breathing, with pain on her left breast and her left leg feels like it wants to collapse. YES!! Take her!! Any time there is a sign of chest pain, you can never be sure what it is. I would take her just to be safe!

Call an ambulance. NOW! it could be a heart attack or a stroke. she needs help. NOW!

If she is having chest pains, pains down her left arm is a sign of heart problems.
Either take her the emergency room now or call an ambulance.
Better to be safe than sorry.

okay i am 18 i have had a baby i had high blood pressure when i was pregnant well i have horrible anxiety my right leg is aching something terrible and its in the upper part of my thigh. my jaw was hurting earlier when i was laughing a lot and when i was at the gym i was checking my heart rate on the treadmill and it was like 140 then it would go 139 138 137 and keep going down then it would go back up then it would stay but it has never done that and i didn't know if it was normal. i am freaking out i have no chest pains or any other symptoms i am really scared that i am having a heart attack cause i Google the symptoms of them and its making me nervous?

Um, it doesn't sound like a heart attack to me. Your just stressing yourself.
Heart attacks usually come with a numb left side or chest pain or even nausea. … If you only had those symptoms, it doesn't really sound like a heart attack. Do you have heart palpitations.

Oh sorry ==' didn't read your questions right, you checked your heartrate. Well, then it only labels it down to you stressing. Like the other person said, panic attacks. I had them before, nasty things. Well, all you can do now is take a deep breath or two and tell yourself to calm down…

If you are very stressed out, i would advised you talking to a persn from your support network(people you trust).

If no one is there with you at the moment, and you feel that you are right and you are about to have a heart attack… go to the hospital or ring an ambulance. Stop stressing, it will only make things worse.

I never heard of a heart attack having the symptoms you relay. actually from what I've heard it is with pain in the left arm usually, then goes to the chest area. I would talk to your dr. about your pain, maybe you are having some exercise related pain. Perhaps you are not using the treadmill correct or at the right pace for you? Just a thought on this one.

Or you could have some circulatory related problem with that leg also?

A new vaccine that can fight tuberculosis (TB) before and after infection has been developed by Danish scientists.

It could offer protection for many years more than is now possible.

TB is a huge global problem, particularly in developing countries, where access to antibiotics to treat the disease is limited.

The latest vaccine, so far tested in animals, is featured in the journal Nature Medicine.

TB is a disease of the lungs, causing symptoms such as coughing, chest pains and weight loss. Untreated, it can be deadly.

However, only in a small number of cases – fewer than 5% – do the symptoms develop immediately after infection.

In more than 90% of cases, once Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium which causes the disease, has invaded the body it changes its chemical signature, and lives in a dormant – or "latent" – state.

Usually the bacterium never emerges from this latent state, but in around 10% of cases it reactivates – often years or even decades later – to trigger severe symptoms.

Current vaccines, such as the BCG vaccine, work only if given before exposure to the bacterium.

They do not prevent infection, but do prevent acute symptoms and disease from emerging.

But once the bacterium has changed into its latent form it is effectively immune to the vaccine, and can bide its time, reactivating after the vaccine has ceased to have a preventative effect.

If successful in human trials, the new vaccine would be able to tackle that problem.

'Major breakthrough'

Developed by a team at the Statens Serum Institute in Copenhagen, it combines proteins that trigger an immune response to both the active and latent forms of Mycobacterium.

Researcher Professor Peter Lawætz Andersen said: "It might be possible to give a booster jab post-exposure to older children or even young adults which would protect them well into adulthood."

Although TB can be treated with antibiotics, those drugs are often not easily accessible in the developing world, where the new vaccine could have the greatest benefit.

Professor Andersen said: "In these areas you cannot go in and treat more than half the local population. For instance, in Capetown 60% of people are thought to be infected."

Professor Peter Davies, secretary of the group TB Alert, said: "a vaccine which can both protect against initial infection and protect from a breakdown of infection into disease is a major breakthrough.

"One of the main disadvantages of BCG was that it could only prevent infection going on to disease in the initially uninfected individual. It was therefore of no use in protecting infected adults who would become an infectious source of disease. Protecting children, though of value, does not protect against transmission, as children with active disease do not usually transmit disease.

"So far so good but we must remember that mice are not men (or women)."

Professor Francis Drobniewski, Director of the Health Protection Agency's National Mycobacterium Reference Laboratory said: "this is an exciting and thoughtful piece of research. the existing BCG vaccine is cheap, safe, widely used but of limited efficacy.

"with over nine million new TB cases globally each year and increasing levels of drug resistance new diagnostics, drugs and especially effective vaccines are desperately needed."

UK situation

The number of tuberculosis cases in the UK topped 9,000 in 2009 – the highest for nearly 30 years.

Diagnoses have been rising almost continuously since the 1980s, with many of the new cases thought to be among people who caught the disease abroad.

There has also been a sharp rise in drug-resistant TB cases.

The Health Protection Agency has warned more efforts must be made to curb the problem.

GREEN VALLEY, AZ – Experts say Valley Fever is not only often misunderstood, it’s also misdiagnosed. A study by the University of Arizona shows that two-thirds of patients with the infection had it misdiagnosed in Arizona.

Part of the reason is the symptoms can be confused with influenza.

Fatigue, coughing, chest pains, fever, rashes, headaches and joint aches are all signs a patient may have Valley Fever.

While the flu typically lasts for a week, Valley fever can last for weeks, months, even a year, said Clarisse Tsang, an epidemiologist who works with infectious diseases.

Tsang said if the above-mentioned symptoms are persistent, ask a doctor to test you for Valley fever.

“Doctors, especially ones who didn’t get their training in Arizona, may not be familiar with the disease,” Tsang said.

A simple blood test will show if the fungus is in the person’s blood stream, said Tsang, who specializes in Valley fever.

Anti fungal medication, not antibiotics, will treat the disease, she added.

Valley fever peaks between the months of June and August and between the mild winter months of October and December.

In 2010, more than 10,000 cases were reported in Arizona.

Valley fever can not be transmitted from person to person.

…and never went to a hospital? Would they be the same as those people who are admitted to medical care straight away?

Naturally they would get worse soon. Lung cancer is very aggressive and most of the time terminal. of course, the symptoms wouldn't be the same, because the treatment itself gives symptoms like vomiting, hair-loss and the rest. however, usually patients don't recover from it, no matter the treatment. that only prolongs life and sometimes the pain and suffering.

It depends how far the disease has progressed. it may start with a nagging cough, shortness of breath, pain upon breathing, coughing up blood, weakness, etc…and if left untreated it could become chest pains, difficulty breathing, hypoxia, metastases to the liver, brain, bones etc…

People who get treatment right away can improve their symptoms or won't have their symptoms progress quite as rapidly as those without treatment. In the end, many succumb to the disease even with treatment.

i have symptoms of long cancer..infact i have what they call "the starting" of lung cancer AND lemonia in my lungs…when you start becoming pail and you cough really badly and deeply and when you breathe it hurts in you lung…its called "plurisy" and why it gets sore because the bags of which your lungs are in swell up and when you breathe your lungs expand so your lungs rub against the bag..

Symptoms of advanced lung cancer include jaundice, bone pain, dizziness, wheezing, severe coughing and being hoarse. these symptoms are usually present when the lung cancer has spread to other organs. Some people find that they have an achiness in their shoulder.

There’s more than joint pain to watch out for.

Painful, swollen joints are a hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis. but for people with RA, it’s not the only thing to watch out for.

A result of the body’s immune system attacking its own tissues, rheumatoid arthritis requires more than just managing the pain. Other symptoms that might even seem unrelated to the condition may pose a threat.

“This is a disease process, not just something that happens in the joints,” rheumatologist Joan Bathon, MD, tells WebMD. “It can be in all your tissues, causing problems wherever inflammation occurs,” says Bathon, who is chief of the rheumatology department at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

People with more severe rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to have other complications. but it can also happen in milder cases.

Here are the top 10 symptoms rheumatoid arthritis patients should never ignore.

1. Shortness of breath or chest pain

Because rheumatoid arthritis can affect the blood vessels and muscle of the heart, people with the condition are at a greater risk for heart attacks and heart failure.

“Chest pains or shortness of breath are big red flags,” says rheumatologist Brian Mandell, MD, PhD, of Cleveland Clinic’s Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Center.

If you’re getting winded easily, you could also have a lung infection. Or you could have some form of interstitial lung disease, which causes lungs to become inflamed and scarred, Mandell says. Fluid might also be surrounding the lungs, which would require drugs and drainage to treat.

Seek medical attention immediately if you’re having these problems, even if you’ve never had heart or lung issues before.

2. Numbness or tingling

Rheumatoid arthritis can cause connective tissues in the hand or foot to become inflamed and push up against a nerve causing numbness and tingling. As a result, you might experience weakness or clumsiness, or even nerve damage.

This type of swelling can happen in tissues throughout the body. but it most commonly occurs around the wrist area, causing carpal tunnel syndrome, Mandell says.

If you experience numbness or tingling, you need to be evaluated by your rheumatologist or another health care provider as soon as possible to determine the cause.

3. Inability to move or raise your hand or foot

Compared to numbness or tingling, suddenly not being able to raise or move a hand or foot is a much more severe complication to result from rheumatoid arthritis. 

It’s also a much more rare occurrence, involving damage to nerves that are connected to muscles.

“It’s like having a heart attack for the nerves,” Bathon tells WebMD.

Seek emergency treatment for this symptom. Bathon says not doing so could lead to permanent paralysis.
