Nine years ago I was admitted to hospital with acute panreatitis, caused by gall stones. I was pregnant at the time, so had to wait for gall bladder op, but had it removed a few months after giving birth. I was warned that my pancreas had been damaged, and I may suffer symptoms in the years to come. I have had a few bouts of pancreatitis, usually after a heavy night on the drink!! so I very seldom drink now at all. I've lost 3 stones in the last 4 months following weight watchers, and after a typical low fat dinner tonight, I've had sudden severe pains, it's a bout of pancreatitis!! I dont know what's triggered it, and I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone help me with ideas what has brought this on? I'm in agony!!

Even though your gallbladder had been removed it is still possible to make gallstones. these can become trapped in the common bile duct. This is an actual medical emergency, these stones need to be removed ASAP. Trapped stones can increase biliary pressures and prevent bile drainage into the small intestine.
I am not sure what is meant by you have lost 3 stones in the last 4 months.
People who have had pancreatitis should never consume alcoholic beverages, or eat food cooked with alcohol. you may never find the cause for what had triggered your pain. The first thing you should do is seek medical attention through your Primary care physician. He/She can refer you to a gastroenterogist ( a Dr. who specializes in disorders of the stomach, gastrointestinal tract)
You may need to seek medical attention for pain control. you need to be seen by a physician immediately. Pain can necessitate Emergency room visit.
There is no cure for pancreatitis, there are treatments. most of which I have found to be ineffective. There are more treatment options available today than ever. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better.

If you were warned that your pancreas has been damaged, perhaps your attacks of acute pancreatitis are due to bile duct obstruction. I strongly suggest you find out.

Certain foods can also cause a flare up but alcohol is the primary offender. I would be making a note of everything I have eaten in the past 24 hours. hopefully, you have taken some pain medication already and if it doesn't settle down soon, you will have to seek medical help for pain control.

Every evening my eyes get kinda slimey feeling, kinda burn and i get drainage in my throat that makes me need to clear my throat often. it comes on every evening around 6pm or so and i usually wake up with it. What could be causing this?

Q: I am a 19-year-old female and have had a nonproductive cough for 16 months without any other symptoms other than some slight drainage down the back of my throat. I have kept food and cough diaries and cannot find anything that triggers it. I cough when I sit, stand, laugh, after strenuous exercise and around smoke.

I have been diagnosed with bronchitis, hiatal hernia, asthma and heartburn. none of the medication given for these diagnoses has worked. I’ve been on Symbicort, Spiriva, codeine, Prilosec, Zantac. I had a chest X-ray done in July 2009 without abnormalities.

At my last visit to the pulmonologist, I was told that I have irritated bronchitis and that I would have it for the rest of my life unless it miraculously went away.

Within the past two weeks, I have noticed that I have all of a sudden been getting heartburn. No acid comes up in my throat, and it usually never lasts for more than a few seconds, but it is a new symptom. Doctors have asked me in the past if I have had heartburn, but I never have up until now. Please help me.

a: Chronic cough can have many causes; most are benign. up to 90 percent of all cases are caused by postnasal drip, acid reflux or asthma.

I suggest that you take a look at your environment to determine if there is something that may be causing this. did you get a new pet or move? did you start wearing a new perfume or using a new scented soap or shampoo?

Talk to your physician about a trial course of an allergy medication. Over-the-counter options include Claritin, Zyrtec, Benadryl and various store brands. Prescription options include Nasonex, Flonase, Clarinex and more.

I am hesitant to believe that you have acid reflux or asthma because treatment failed to improve your cough; however, they may still be the culprits. Acid reflux can be helped through changes in diet as well as physical activity. Limit your intake of fatty, greasy, high-acid and spicy foods. Asthma may require daily preventive therapy such as a steroid inhaler in addition to a rescue inhaler for emergencies. your new symptom of heartburn may be related to acid reflux, but it may also simply be the result of your constant coughing.

I urge you to undergo another chest X-ray. your pulmonologist can then compare the two films to determine whether there are changes that might indicate a more insidious cause.

If you are uncomfortable with your current physicians and their assistants, start fresh with another lung specialist or primary-care physician. Express your concerns about the cough, and be sure to bring all your medical records with you. The new physician can offer a new perspective and insight into your situation and may find something that the others missed.

I received a TB skin test at my job and prior to receiving it, I felt fine. within a few hours afterwards, however, I have a slightly sore throat and I feel drainage in the back of my throat. can one get symptoms like this after getting the TB skin test?

i had a cold but now i have no other symptoms exept i have a lot of phlem/mucus in my system and i have astuffy nose and i keep coughing/having to clear my cough..ive had this for like a weekish..

you still have a cold, and your couching and sneezing to get rid of the mucous..

Drainage from your nose is making your chest congested so you need to cough. keep your nose clear and you'll be fine.

you have a cold.Its leftover mucus from the cold that hasnt left becuase you still have an infection, its just not affecting other areas anymore.
