How long does it take for symptoms of pancreatitis to go away.?
I had an attack of acute pancreatitis about 3 weeks ago. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I have taken all my meds. I still have a dull pain in my abdomen and my appetite has not returned to normal. My gallbladder was normal on ultrasound. I am sticking to the diet the dr gave me.
I wonder if anyone else has had these same problems and how long it took you to feel "normal" again.

The duration is quite variable and depends on the cause. a stone in the pancreatic duct can be nasty. Check your family history. There is an occasional familial occurrence. I had one family where father and daughter had mild cases occurring only once, but the son had recurrent severe bouts, eventually requiring pancreatectomy.

The only other cases I had as a pediatrician were older teen agers who drank a lot of beer. if my memory serves me, they also had familial elevated triglycerides. the triglycerides came down, but were still elevated when the drinking stopped. They are now adults and I have lost contact, but I think they are on statins.
