<p> THE Vale Dyspraxia Support Group &#105;&#115; appealing for volunteers to come forward to run &#116;&#104;&#101; organisation.</p>
<p> &#116;&#104;&#101; Barry family members &#119;&#104;&#111; have run &#116;&#104;&#101; group for &#116;&#104;&#101; last seven years are moving out &#111;&#102; &#116;&#104;&#101; area, and they are desperate for &#115;&#111;&#109;&#101;&#111;&#110;&#101; to &#116;&#097;&#107;&#101; &#111;&#118;&#101;&#114; &#116;&#104;&#101; reins.</p>
<p> VDSG &#112;&#114;&#111;&#118;&#105;&#100;&#101;&#115; support and advice for parents, carers, families and &#111;&#116;&#104;&#101;&#114;&#115; that are affected by dyspraxia.</p>
<p> They &#099;&#117;&#114;&#114;&#101;&#110;&#116;&#108;&#121; provide members with monthly meetings, an advice line, and links to a range &#111;&#102; &#111;&#116;&#104;&#101;&#114; organisations.</p>
<p> They &#097;&#108;&#115;&#111; arrange social activities including 10-pin bowling, cinema trips, boat trips and visits to &#116;&#104;&#101; likes &#111;&#102; Techniquest.</p>
<p> &#8220;We are &#099;&#111;&#110;&#115;&#105;&#100;&#101;&#114;&#105;&#110;&#103; moving to Oxford and we are not going to &#098;&#101; &#097;&#098;&#108;&#101; carry on with &#116;&#104;&#101; group &#105;&#102; we move &#116;&#104;&#101;&#114;&#101;,&#8221; &#115;&#097;&#105;&#100; one &#111;&#102; &#116;&#104;&#101; co-ordinators.</p>
<p> &#8220;After seven and a &#104;&#097;&#108;&#102; years &#116;&#104;&#101; group &#099;&#111;&#117;&#108;&#100; &#100;&#111; with &#115;&#111;&#109;&#101; fresh leadership too.</p>
<p> &#8220;We are &#097;&#115;&#107;&#105;&#110;&#103; for people to come forward, for us to &#102;&#105;&#110;&#100; out a &#108;&#105;&#116;&#116;&#108;&#101; bit more &#097;&#098;&#111;&#117;&#116; them, and &#115;&#101;&#101; &#105;&#102; people &#105;&#110; &#116;&#104;&#101; meetings feel happy for them to lead &#116;&#104;&#101; group and &#116;&#097;&#107;&#101; &#105;&#116; forward from us.&#8221;</p>
<p> Dyspraxia &#105;&#115; a condition &#119;&#104;&#101;&#114;&#101; &#116;&#104;&#101; normal process &#111;&#102; development &#111;&#102; physical actions that require co-ordination &#105;&#115; delayed &#111;&#114; disturbed.</p>
<p> Typically a child with dyspraxia &#104;&#097;&#115; difficulty with their &#103;&#114;&#111;&#115;&#115; motor skills, including activities such &#097;&#115; throwing, catching and running, &#097;&#115; &#119;&#101;&#108;&#108; &#097;&#115; fine motor skills, such &#097;&#115; handwriting.</p>
<p> Dyspraxia &#105;&#115; part &#111;&#102; a group &#111;&#102; conditions that include dyslexia and ADHD, with &#109;&#097;&#110;&#121; children &#104;&#097;&#118;&#105;&#110;&#103; symptoms &#111;&#102; one &#111;&#114; more &#111;&#102; &#116;&#104;&#101;&#115;&#101; conditions.</p>

<p>Strong demand &#102;&#114;&#111;&#109; the Wellington region forits programme that helps people with dyslexia, ADHD,dyspraxia &#097;&#110;&#100; Asperger&#x2019;s &#104;&#097;&#115; led learning difficultyorganisation Dore &#116;&#111; open &#097; centre &#105;&#110; &#108;&#111;&#119;&#101;&#114; Hutt.
<p>Doregeneral manager Peter Sargent says opening the &#108;&#111;&#119;&#101;&#114; Huttcentre &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; make it far &#109;&#111;&#114;&#101; convenient &#102;&#111;&#114; residents ofWellington &#097;&#110;&#100; surrounding regions undertaking theprogramme, &#097;&#115; &#116;&#104;&#101;&#121; &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; no longer &#104;&#097;&#118;&#101; &#116;&#111; travel &#116;&#111; Aucklandor Christchurch every &#116;&#104;&#114;&#101;&#101; months &#102;&#111;&#114; theirassessments.
<p>Dore is &#097; drug-free, exercise-based programmefor people with learning difficulties such &#097;&#115; dyslexia,dyspraxia, ADHD &#097;&#110;&#100; Asperger&#x2019;s. It is estimated that onein every &#115;&#105;&#120; people suffer some form of learningdifficulty.
<p>Sargent says the programme tackles the rootcause of learning difficulties &#098;&#121; improving the efficiencyof the cerebellum &#x2013; the brain&#x2019;s &#x201C;skill developmentcentre&#x201D; &#x2013; &#097;&#110;&#100; the part of the brain now understood toplay &#097; significant role &#105;&#110; learning, coordination, emotionalcontrol &#097;&#110;&#100; motor skills. &#x201C;The key factor differentiatingDore &#102;&#114;&#111;&#109; most &#111;&#116;&#104;&#101;&#114; treatments &#102;&#111;&#114; learning difficulties isthat the programme doesn&#x2019;t &#106;&#117;&#115;&#116; treat the symptoms, butaddresses the root cause.&#x201D;
<p>Dore works with children overthe age of seven, teenagers &#097;&#110;&#100; adults of &#097;&#110;&#121; age. Theoldest client &#116;&#111; complete the programme &#119;&#097;&#115; aged83.
<p>Following &#116;&#104;&#101;&#105;&#114; assessment clients &#097;&#114;&#101; prescribedan exercise-based programme tailored &#116;&#111; &#116;&#104;&#101;&#105;&#114; own particularneeds &#102;&#114;&#111;&#109; &#097; range of &#111;&#118;&#101;&#114; 400 &#100;&#105;&#102;&#102;&#101;&#114;&#101;&#110;&#116; exercises. Theexercises &#097;&#114;&#101; undertaken &#102;&#111;&#114; &#097;&#098;&#111;&#117;&#116; 10 minutes twice &#097; dayand focus &#111;&#110; stimulating the cerebellum &#097;&#110;&#100; &#109;&#097;&#107;&#105;&#110;&#103; it workmore efficiently.
<p>&#x201C;Our programme helps the body toaddress the affliction &#102;&#114;&#111;&#109; &#119;&#105;&#116;&#104;&#105;&#110;, providing &#097; lastingresult &#097;&#110;&#100;, because it is drug-free, there aren&#x2019;t &#097;&#110;&#121; sideeffects&#x201D;, says Sargent.
<p>Each programme is tailored tothe individual &#097;&#110;&#100; the average length of time &#116;&#111; completionis &#097;&#098;&#111;&#117;&#116; 12 months. During &#116;&#104;&#105;&#115; time, participants oftensee &#097; dramatic transformation &#105;&#110; &#116;&#104;&#101;&#105;&#114; learningability.
<p>Ahead of the centre opening free informationevenings &#097;&#098;&#111;&#117;&#116; the Dore programme &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; &#098;&#101; held &#105;&#110; PalmerstonNorth &#111;&#110; Thursday 27th January &#097;&#110;&#100; &#105;&#110; Wellington onWednesday 16th February.
