But &#098;&#121; understanding preventative measures and symptoms, you can decrease your risks of developing colon cancer and other colonic disorders.In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Babette Clapper, RN, CGRN, &#097; Rome Memorial Hospital endoscopy nurse, &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; provide information &#116;&#111; help you take charge of your colorectal health at the hospital’s Senior Live &amp; Learn program, 1 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 10. The free educational program &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; &#098;&#101; held at the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizens Civic Center, 305 E. Locust St.&#8221;It is important &#116;&#111; remember that the colon is an intricate &#112;&#097;&#114;&#116; of &#111;&#117;&#114; overall health,&#8221; Clapper &#115;&#097;&#105;&#100;.&#8221;Colorectal cancer is &#097; preventable disease, but early detection is key,&#8221; she added.&#8221;Today’s screenings and technology &#109;&#097;&#107;&#101; &#105;&#116; easy &#102;&#111;&#114; &#117;&#115; &#116;&#111; follow &#116;&#104;&#114;&#111;&#117;&#103;&#104; with basic measures &#116;&#111; maintain &#097; healthy colon and manage problems that may exist.&#8221;Today’s colonoscopies are an effective tool &#102;&#111;&#114; preventing colon cancer &#098;&#101;&#099;&#097;&#117;&#115;&#101; polyps can &#098;&#101; removed before they turn cancerous.In addition &#116;&#111; prevention, Clapper &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; discuss common causes, and the importance of recognizing symptoms that need &#105;&#109;&#109;&#101;&#100;&#105;&#097;&#116;&#101; attention. She &#119;&#105;&#108;&#108; &#097;&#108;&#115;&#111; discuss diagnosis and treatment options.Clapper has &#098;&#101;&#101;&#110; &#097; gastroenterology nurse &#102;&#111;&#114; 18 years. She is &#097; graduate of St. Elizabeth College of Nursing and is certified in gastroenterology.In addition &#116;&#111; this education program, men and women age 50 and older can &#098;&#101; proactive in preventing and detecting problems early &#098;&#121; picking &#117;&#112; &#097; free colorectal cancer home test kit at Mohawk Valley Radiation Medicine any weekday in March.
