I'm 19. I've looked into information of Parkinson's disease right after I found out I have a tremor on my right hand when I form it into a fist. Well I tried to search for answers on the internet. I found the case was a symptom from Parkinson's disease. I've looked into the Parkinson's disease symptoms and I have some of them.

Here are the most distinguished ones I have:

1. Sleep Paralysis. – I have had many cases of this and it's happening more frequently, no matter how much I try to avoid it.

2. Stooped posture/tend to lean forward – almost always my case, except when I try to straighten my back which is pretty difficult because it almost always doesn't feel right and it takes effort.. tenses my muscles and everything. Idk how to explain.

3. Masking/Loss of facial expression – ALWAYS common. It's why people always think I'm frowning all the time. It's hard to smile because it seems to require alot of effort. But I'm slim and I'm moderatly active(meaning I don't do vigorous exercise on a daily basis). I don't know if those factors matter though.

4. Speech problems – I almost always talk soft and I usually mumble/slur when I speak.. because it's tiring. My jaw always feel locked too.

5. Fatigue – I get that alot… But sometimes when I eat I gain some energy… but I kinda get tired easily, even though I can output alot of energy into action. I'm sure my other workers can outlast me when it comes to energy too..

6. Depression – I get depressed alot. especially stressed.

7. Constipation – I've been getting that alot lately…. I don't know why. yet I eat the same food as my family pretty much. They don't get sick like me.

8. Chills – My hands are always cold. Summer, winter, you name it. I always get the chills too in an environment where everyone else feels at regular tempturature.

9. Memory difficulties and slowed thinking – I attend college. Well a tech school to begin with. But my memory is pretty bad. Not horrible but.. bad. there are times where I blank out and can't remember certain things.. Things other people can pick up and memorize are usually things I can't hold in for very long.

These are just some. I'm sure there are others but I haven't looked into every symptom out there. does anyone know about this? Could it be a symptom for Parkinsons or something else??

Note, even though I've listed those number of symptoms, I may claim myself to be a fairly healthy girl. But I notice some things are not right about me. I just don't know what's normal or what's not about me. I will describe how I do not take care of myself. I have a bad habit of being dehydrated. Also I tend to eat quite a bit at times, but I never gain a pound. Has something to do with it? I don't know. other than that… there's really nothing else I can think of.. I guess my memory lol.

But please. does anyone know anything about this? Any answer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

I KNOW you should go to your family doctor and asked to see a specialist in the neurological field who specializes in parkinson's disease ASAP it may be something else. i am a sufferer

I'm not saying this is all in your head, and you should definitely consult a doctor.

Roy, a 21-year old boy, was experiencing social withdrawal on account of delusions and paranoia. after being admitted in an institution, it was observed that he was exhibiting some movement and behavioral abnormalities. He was seen walking backwards and he had a distinctive facial expression. The patient was ultimately diagnosed as having catatonic schizophrenia. Catatonic schizophrenia is a subtype of schizophrenia as mentioned in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, version 4 (DSM-IV-TR).

So what exactly is catatonic schizophrenia? It is a combination of catatonia and schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is basically a mental illness where there is an unusual or incorrect perception of reality. Catatonic schizophrenia occurs when catatonia, a psychic and motor disturbance syndrome is associated with psychiatric conditions, like schizophrenia. It has not yet been classified as a different disease. according to the DSM-IV-TR, if a person has delusions and hallucinations coupled with disorganized speech, and exhibits incoherent social behavior regularly, the person is diagnosed as having catatonic schizophrenia.

Symptoms of Catatonic SchizophreniaPatients suffering from catatonic schizophrenia either experience an extreme loss of motor skills or they exhibit hyper motor activity. Resistance to movement is observed in such patients. Symptoms also involve repetition of nonsensical phrases and imitating another person.

A few other symptoms of catatonic schizophrenia are neglect of personal hygiene, lack of emotions, angry outbursts, trouble functioning at school or work, social isolation and clumsy, uncoordinated movements. this also includes a posture called waxy flexibility, which means that a person having catatonic schizophrenia when placed by others in a specific position, maintains that posture for a long time.

A particular condition is experienced by these patients, which is called the catatonic excitement. It pertains to persistent useless agitation. The individuals in this state become hyperactive, although the activity does not yield anything constructive.

Treatment of Catatonic SchizophreniaThe first step in the treatment of this condition is the patient’s acceptance that he or she is afflicted by the mental disorder. once this is accomplished, then, it is possible that the medication will work. Because if the individual is rigid and is not motivated and willing to get better, the medications would be in vain.
