I'm a very avid reader, but it is sometimes difficult and takes an ordinate amount of time for me to entirely comprehend what I'm reading about. This is more pronounced when I'm reading text books or other dry, non-fiction books. I may be interested in the subject and I may want to learn and understand what I'm reading, but it sometimes will just go right over my head. for example, I'll read a paragraph in my history text book, but immediately after finishing the paragraph, I wouldn't be able to tell you what the topic was or anything that was mentioned. I generally will have to read things 3-5 times before I begin to really take the information in. Furthermore, I've recently noticed a lot of problems with my spelling. I'll leave letters out of words, such as making "and" just "nd" or "an" or I'll jumble the letters, making "and" into "nad." I also have trouble spelling the simplest of words. I was writing a paper the other day, and found myself stuck on the spelling of "water" for about five minutes. I just couldn't find the right letters. I've also read that attention and focus problems can be symptoms of dyslexia. I have extreme focus troubles. for example, I'll be reading a book and then find myself just sitting there, staring into space, having completely forgotten that I was reading. I also will oftentimes will be in the middle of something and just decide, usually for no apparent reason, to do something else. I can go from reading a book, to watching a movie, to cleaning the bathroom, to baking cookies, all in about an hour. I struggle at grasping concepts in school, mainly in math. I've also recently been falling behind in chemistry and we just began talking about formulas- oxidation numbers, memorizing polyatomic ions, memorizing the the elements and their symbols, labling hydrates, etc. and I just can't grip all of the information or memorize anything. I think that's about all and any input would be really great.
