please only answer if you have had gall bladder problems or know someone who has, and please be exact. dont just say go to the emergency room. the person who gets 10 pts will give me some details about their story. thanks in advance.

When the pain becomes almost chronic. My best friend had gall bladder problems and she kept putting off the surgery. a scan showed she needed the surgery but she had kids and was worried about how "everything would get done around the house." She actually took prescription pain killers for many months. Finally it got so bad that they took her by ambulance and she needed emergency surgery. afterwards they told her that her gall bladder was completely yellow (meaning totally infected). Pls. don't wait that long. if you have chronic and severe pain on a daily basis, speak to your doctor and get his/her input. then when you have all facts as is related to you and know the risks vs. benefits, you can make an educated decision. Pls. don't wait till it's a life threatening emergency, and have to take all those painkillers. My friend was almost addicted by the time the surgery was done.

Some people experience pain different than others. My mom has a very high pain tolerance. She never had medicine for all 4 of us kids. Other than giving birth, she had never been in the hospital.

Well, one day she was at work and feeling a little discomfort on her side. She didn't think much of it, but later that day she got one sharp pain. so painful she knew something was wrong. She called her dr and he said her symptoms were serious and to come in. She called my dad and he took her to the dr. the dr immediately sent her to the hospital. they did a scan and found she had gall stones that needed to be removed. She went straight into surgery because of the size of the gall stones. When they got in there, it turned out her gall bladder was gain green. it was very serious. the dr later explained that most people would have had serious pain before my mom did.

So if your having pain, you need to have a dr check it out because everyone takes pain differently.

Hope everything is ok with you.

I don't believe in living with pain–think about it. My father is so much happier now that he had his gall bladder removed. if the pain has been bad enough that you ended up in the ER–it's bad enough.

I have been suffering from gall bladder problems for about 3 years now. When it first started happening, I didn't getting the vomiting so when I went to the ER because I seriously thought I was having a heart attack, the ER doctor said I had Pulisi (sorry, I can't spell that), inflammation of the chest lining. Of course the minute I lose my health insurance, the symptoms worsened and the vomiting began. I ended up going to a "free" clinic of sorts, where they ran tests and said I did have gall bladder stones, and it really should be removed, but there is no way without my insurance to have it done.
I have tried to keep it under control with diet. but I still get the flair ups about once a month or so. I can usually tell within about 5 minutes of eating something, if I'm going to have a flair up within that night.
Last night I put my fork down and said, tonight is going to be one of those nights. So we are wondering if there is anything that can help reduce the pain.

avoid fatty foods as much as possible.try and get a prescription for a drug called buscopan.

This condition will increasingly get worse. there is nothing you can do except have it taken out. it is diseased and as long as you have it, you will experience the symptoms.

netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/fact…

In most cases, prevention is not possible. Weight reduction, and reducing intake of fatty foods, may reduce symptoms in people with gallbladder disease. Use of the medicine ursodiol may shrink gallstones, but it is used only in special cases.
A gallbladder operation is absolutely necessary:
(1) When an acute inflammation is present. This can be diagnosed by elevated temperature, pain and tenderness in the vicinity of the gallbladder, an elevated white blood cell count, and x-ray evidence of a diseased organ.
(2) When the patient is having recurrent attacks of severe, colicky pain due to the presence of gallstones.
(3) When, in the presence of positive proof of gallbladder malfunction, the patient is suffering from chronic indigestion, nausea, flatulence, and pain in the right upper part of the abdomen.
(4) When jaundice, caused by an obstructing stone, is present.
Please see the web pages for more details on Gallbladder disease.

Hi, I've been to my doctor and am getting the results of blood tests back next week, but do any of you know if my symptoms tally?

I have SEVERE reactions to fatty foods – I find it difficult to breathe and have been sick. I also get bad cramps. I think the stress of it all has made the symptoms worse.

In general, I have been having a lot of gas and have experienced some back discomfort.

I can't find anything else on the internet about fast food intolerance, so think it must be gallstones. I am only 25 and not overweight, but have put on and lost a considerable amount of weight in the last few years.

I am worried and any thoughts would be appreciated.
