my husband is having issues. he has had hemmroid problems before. he has never been like he was today, lots of pain in his lower back, stomach, and rectum. he refuses to go to the doctor. hardheaded.

I had colon cancer. My symptoms did not show up until the tumor got quite large. first sign was long periods of pain in the region of what seemed like my stomach which got worse as time went by until it was hurting all night long. next sign was sudden weight loss (4 pounds in one month without trying to lose weight). next symptom was tiredness (low iron because the tumor was bleeding). I could not see blood in my stool but a test I had run detected it. if he's got ongoing pain then he really should be seeing a gastroenterologist. It took me about a year and a half to figure out what was wrong with me after tests. thank God I was persistent because that is what saved me. I had surgery one year ago today, September 5th. I never dreamed I would ever get cancer and I was trying to do all the right things. It will be a huge mistake if he doesn't go to the doctor to find out what is wrong with him. It could cost him his life.

I had ask a similar question before but I think wasn't clear enough. in the last 5 days I started to get stomach pain & cramps and sharp back pain when I swallow food. taking a sip of water helps with the feeling like the food is getting stuck. the pain only occurs when the food is being swallow, and not after I eat. I think its getting better with time but I'm not if it go away. I think I will see a doctor soon, but someone online told me most likely all the doctor will do is schedule me for testing a another week. I really want to know what are symptoms of since none of my symtoms don't match any illness 100%.

Please don't panic, but difficulty in swallowing is a symptom of cancer. You need to see a doctor or a gastroenterologist to rule out anything serious. It could be heartburn that has irritated your esophagus. I am having a procedure on Monday where the doc goes down my throat with a scope to check on my esophagus. It isn't as bad as it sounds, although it is no picnic. Please get checked out soon.

I went to see a gastroenterologist in October and he diagnosed me as having IBS, but no tests were done. he based his diagnosis on the symptoms I told him I've been having at the time. how can I know for sure that what I have really is IBS and not something else like Celiac Disease or Crohn's? And if it really is IBS, what besides change in diet can help with easing or getting rid of the symptoms? TIA

IBS is the diagnosis left after celiac disease and crohns are ruled out. you need to try another doctor and get tested for celiac disease and crohns. a good place to start is look up the celiac disease support group for your area in csaceliacs.org and find the doctor they recommend. Not only will that doctor be able to work with you to diagnose CD but if it isn't CD, probably more likely to help you figure out what it is.
