Human body mechanisms:The human body functions amazingly well regardless of how we actually take care of ourselves. There are built-in mechanisms that control the acidity of the stomach and various fluids. another mechanism controls blood pressure, and another regulates the amount of glucose allowed in the blood stream, regardless of the food eaten. other mechanisms ensure that enough calcium is present in the blood to participate in nerve transmission and heart beat regulation. When these mechanisms begin to malfunction, whether from age, disease, injury, or poor diet and other lifestyle factors, we see high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and diabetes.According to Chinese Medicine colon health is associated with depression. This science states every organ system is associated with an emotion and when our organs become out of balance so do our moods. if your colon is unhealthy you may be experiencing depression. One way to do this is to follow the blood type diet because, it is a low lectin diet. Lectins that react with your biochemistry in undesirable ways cause inflammation and deterioration in the colon. if you follow the blood type diet, and get on a diet that is compatable with your colon it can rejuvenate and heal your colon, thus making you feel more happy.

The blood type diet:The blood Ttype diet is based on the fact that all foods have proteins that can interact with antibodies in blood. Dr. D’Adamo has tested most foods and determined which blood types react adversely to lectins in most foods. Lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins that are found in most plants, particularly seeds and tubers such as cereal crops, potatoes and beans (legumes). Lectins are proteins that do not break down easily, and they are resistant to both stomach acid and digestive enzymes. Lectins may bind to the wall of the gut and damage the gut lining. they can cause changes in the function of the gut which may be related to diseases such as colitis and irritable bowel syndrome. Because of the damage that lectins do to the gut, other proteins may be able to cross into the body undigested and cause allergic reactions within the body. As lectins can cross into the body through a damaged gut wall, they can bind to cell membranes in arteries and vessels, organs and glands. This binding can create reactions which lead to auto-immune disorders or degenerative diseases. Different lectins are associated with different diseases. For example, dairy-based lectins are associated with juvenile onset type one diabetes.

Blood types and stress levels:

One’s blood type can certainly predispose an individual to different ways of responding to stress and balancing mood. another important factor is the stress hormone cortisol. Type O produces the least amount and Type A produces the most amount of cortisol. When cortisol is continually over-produced it can cause adrenal exhaustion and the corresponding symptoms of depression and fatigue. Type Os reaction to stress can cause an overproduction of adrenaline which can make them more susceptible to anxiety when stressed. But again, long-term imbalances can create more depression from burn out of the nervous system as well. Type A, with their naturally higher levels of cortisol, are particularly prone to problems from ‘everyday’ stress. As the adrenal glands pump out more and more cortisol, they eventually tire out, causing the person to have a quicker response to minor stressors. Type Os are more prone to problems that arise from an inability to clear stress hormones from their system quickly; it takes more to get a Type O stressed but it takes more to de-stress them as well. That’s why they require more vigorous exercise, whereas Type A can do a lot with yoga and Tai Chi for cortisol balance. Type B can also benefit from more calming exercises, especially if they are prone to depression in the family.
Pancreatic cancer in cats is a rare, terminal cancer. It’s uncommon for a cat to live more than a couple months after diagnosis. Cancerous masses in the pancreas, known as insulinomas, cause the pancreas to release high levels of insulin, whichin turn cause imbalances of glucose in the bloodstream.

Pet owners may be able to catch the earliest symptoms of insulinomas if they pay close attention to their cat’s behavior. Following exercise, the cat may seem extremely tired, more so than normal. the cat may develop muscle twitches and a lack of coordination.

Cats often lack an appetite and lose weight as a result. Nausea and vomiting increase. If the tumor grows large enough, the abdomen might swell and become extremely painful to the touch. If the tumor obstructs the flow of bile, jaundice occurs. at your veterinarian’s office, the abdomen will be palpated to see if a mass can be felt.

As the duty of the pancreas is to maintain the proper blood sugar levels in the body, having cancerous cells quickly impacts a cat’s health. when the blood sugar levels become too low, insulin shock occurs.

Because insulinomas create an imbalance in blood sugars, diabetic shock is often the point at which pet owners notice something is wrong. As the insulinomas grow and alter blood sugar levels, there is one key symptom: loss of consciousness. You may notice extreme weakness and possible seizures before the collapse, but this doesn’t always occur in every case.

If your cat does collapse, seek urgent veterinary care. the clinic will order blood tests to check the glucose levels over a span of time. once continual low glucose levels are seen, ultrasounds or MRIs are ordered. These imaging tests pinpoint the location and size of the tumor.

Feline pancreatic cancer is rarely treatable. Surgical removal of thecancerous portion of the pancreas can be performed. Steroids and chemotherapy may be ordered to help maintain glucose levels and kill cancerous cells. Management of the symptoms of feline pancreatic cancer is usually the preferred path.

If you do opt to have the pancreas removed, maintenance of the insulin levels requires strict monitoring to prevent insulin shock. You will need to feed your cat small, low-sugar meals throughout the day. Frequent veterinary checks are necessary to monitor your cat’s health and sugar levels.

This form of cancer in cats can spread quickly to other organs. Removing the pancreas may get rid of one tumor, but the tumor can appearin other areas. For this reason, most vets advise keeping your cat comfortable for the remainder of his life and not forcing the cat to go through a painful surgery.

Because many cats develop nausea and vomiting, switching to canned food is usually easier on the animal. the nutrients are absorbed quicklyand many cats simply prefer the flavor. Medications to control the nausea and vomiting are possible. If the cat is showing signs of dehydration, IV fluids may be required.

Pain is controlled though prescription pain medications. If the medications stops working effectively, it’s often best at this point to have the animal euthanized.

Amylase is an enzyme which is essential to break down starch into sugar. Amylase enzyme is found in human saliva and it aids in the chemical process of digestion. Further, amylase is found in the pancreas as it aids in the hydrolyses the starch into disaccharides and trisaccharides. this hydrolysized starch is then converted to glucose which is burned to produce energy for the body.

All in all amylase is essential to break down complex carbohydrates into simple sugars which can be used by the body to generate energy. Deficiency of amylase results in fat intolerance especially among individuals who consume high volumes of complex carbohydrates

Amylase deficiency is associated with severe problems. These include,

Skin problems including eczema, psoriasis, allergic reactions, dermatitis, etc

Amylase deficiency is also known to trigger respiratory distress and contribute to asthma attacks

In severe cases of amylase deficiency, individuals may suffer from chronic pancreatitis, hepatitis or pancreatic cancer.

One of the leading cause for amylase deficiency is a high carbohydrate diet. High volume of complex carbohydrate in the diet results in increased demand for amylase to convert them into simple sugars. After prolonged period of time, the levels of amylase fall below normal which result in Amylase deficiency.

Amylase deficiency treatment would comprise of restricting the intake of complex carbohydrates and starch in the diet. Reduced complex carbohydrates, reduces the demand for amylase which in turn aids in management of the symptoms associated with the problem.
