About a month ago a bar hit my ankle and it swole up immediatley. Two weeks later still swollen and blood looks like it seeped across my whole foot. It's been a while and my ankle still hurts It's still sore do you have any suggestions

Yes, you may have bruised the muscle and sounds like veins are
popping out.My only hope is that you directly applied ice to it? The
veins popping out could be a sin of your lack of blood to the foot,
which is not good! That's lack of blood circulation and if the swelling hasn't gone down any, your going to need a Dr. Please do that, it's been 2 weeks too many!

My grand child has a lot of problems with her bowels. She goes every 30 minutes just a small amount, but it's truly a bad situation. She's just been diagnosed with autism, the Dr. hasn't said anything about this being apart of her disorder. is there anyone who knows something about this problem & what Dr should we need to take her to see?

You should find a GI experienced with autism or a DAN doctor. Many doctors will tell you GI issues just go along with autism and to get used to them, or precribe Miralax to "move things". but you (and your granddaughter and her parents) shouldn't have to live with the GI issues and Miralax isn't good for kids, esp. kids with autism. an IgG allergy test may help point out things that are irritating her GI tract, and a GOOD doctor can help you figure out things to help FIX the problem, not just band-aid it.

My son to has autism and bowel problems. he didn't like going to have a bowel movement. yes there are problems with this in children with autism you can consult your dr and see what they want to do. we put our son on a limited dairy products diet and it has really helped him. we allow him some dairy but if he gets alot his bm are like water and his behavior is completely out of control. Therefore a change in diet may help or you may have to see a specialist to help with the situation.

Controlling their bowel movements is one thing that an autistic child can have control over.

Producing a specimen for mummy and daddy can be hell sometimes as the sensation of peristalsis (bowel moving faeces through the intestines) can be very strong for a young child. they are afraid to do a poo because of it.

I took a book out of the parents library near my place when my children were young called "Boss of the Bladder" , by Dr Janet Hall ( I think). yes I know we are talking bowels here but I think the same scenario can be used for this as well.

Get your child to tell your grandchild that she is 'boss of her bowels' and 'her brain has asked her bowels to get a load on out of there !'

I have an autistic son who is 6 years old.

After studying about autism, I discovered information about "Leaking Gut Syndrome". You may be interested in 'googling' it.

In short, it's a condition where a person's system does not break down protein efficiently and it can permeate the gut wall into the blood stream and cause other difficulties. The proteins in question are 'gluten' (protein found in wheat) and 'casein' (protein found in dairy).

The condition has been strongly linked with autism, and many people with autistic children feel that a gluten free/dairy free diet helps. however, some others disagree.

My son is on gluten/dairy free because we feel he is less anxious, aggressive and his BM are much more normal.

I would be inclined to suggest seeing a Paediatrician, especially one who sees other autistic children, or a Paediatric Dietician.

The best bet is to learn a little bit about the sensory issues of Autism and this may help explain some of the bowel and even other issues that deal with Autism. it is hard to say if they are tied into each other, but is good to know all of the facts that you can before going to a pediatrician or doctor so that you may be educated as well. My son on a casein free diet (no dairy, no processed meats) through the suggestion of his doctor. It's helped his bowels and sensory integration disorder tremendously.

Try asking her Pediatrician about it first and then if perhaps a consultation with a GI (gastrointerologist) Dr may be needed.

The puppies are a little more than 4 weeks old and were born in a neighbor's shed, so they can't have been infected after birth. the mother was a street dog and hasn't shown any symptoms of rabies yet, but I heard it can take up to 6 months for symptoms to show. is it safe to adopt and handle the puppies? they haven't shown any symptoms either. Can rabies be transmitted through the father?

Well they still could have been affected after birth with being in a shed, but if a rabid raccoon or bat or something had been in there with them chances are you would have a couple dead puppies. Puppies can get rabies from any mammal that has rabies, but they won't have rabies just because the father had rabies, unless the father was there after they were born and was able to trade saliva with them…Rabies is passed through saliva problem being rabies causes increased salivation so more rabies for everyone. If an unvaccinated dog comes in contact with a rabid animal there is a very good chance that the dog will be infected. the survival rate for puppies with rabies is only 20% so you'll know if they have rabies. Puppies don't take that long to show. very few dogs do. it takes longer for rabies to show in cats because their immune system is naturally stronger than a dog's. but for all intents and purposes the puppies can't get rabies from the father unless he was there after their birth which is highly unlikely in the dog world…it isn't sexually transmitted it is transmitted through bites because it's in the saliva. anyway all you can really do is wait and see, but I would say the puppies are fine to handle unless you see them acting crazy and trying to bite and maul everything. If they are acting ok you would be unlikely to contract rabies anyway because they won't be biting you. No real way to tell. It's a risk you take with wild animals. the chances of rabies also vary greatly depending on your area.

Rabies is not usually transmitted from mother to pups. If the mom has circulating virus, she should be showing symptoms already, and likely wouldn't have survived to give birth.

In any event the puppies must stay with their mother until weaned, ideally at least 8 weeks and possibly longer. If you're in doubt about safety, have your local Animal Control or humane society take the mother and puppies for the next few weeks. Perhaps you can contribute something to their care and upkeep, and commit to adopting one of the puppies.

Ok- does the mother have rabies? Rabies is transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. the saliva of the infected animal gets into the blood stream. Rabies is a fairly quick disease. in a matter of days after the bite, symptoms will appear. not months. obviously all the pups should see a vet and should have been handled daily from day one. I fear for the adoption prospects of these pups since the mom was a street dog and obviously the pups have gone 4 weeks without human socialization.

the safest thing is to cull them- goodness knows what else they could be carrying (rabies is the least concern here, other diseases are easier to pass from father and/or mother to puppies) and what they may infect other dogs with- plus, the mother being a street dog, chances are that she's wild, and wouldn't be adoptable.

I have many of the symptoms of an enlarged prostate.
Such that I am always making sure I know where the nearest bathroom
is. it is really inconvenient and makes me feel somewhat down.
I am a 47 year old male (younger than one would expect for such urinary problems).

My Dr has ruled out prostate (only slightly enlarged) and prostate cancer.

I have tried some prostate medication anyway and it had no affect.

I have tried a herbal tea that supposedly helps but it hasn't yet (only two days so far).

Does anyone know of any other causes of OAB symptoms like this ?
