It depends on what strain you have. most of them show no symptoms and go away by themselves–some people never even know they had it. If you do show symptoms, it would be in the form of genital warts.

There are usually NO symptoms at all except for a abnormal pap smear. i have hpv. and have NO symptoms once so ever never had a wart or anything. my doc said most women who have multipul partners at a young age end up with hpv. but to be honest its really nothing to worry about. it is very common. hope this helps

I went to the gyno awhile back and my first test came back with HPV, so then I had to go back again for another pap test, and everything came back okay. I have HPV but it goes away on it's own but then comes back, how do you know if you have it again if the only symptom you had was itching, there isn't anything visible. I mean how often does it keep coming back. If only they had that vaccine that they have now back when I was in my 20's. I've already had cervical cancer once. I guess my best bet is just to get in to see the dr again…….this can get pricey if it keeps coming back again and again. Obviously I know I should go see a doctor since I have some disturbing symptoms, but I'm wondering how long you can go between being infected with HPV and showing symptoms. I can honestly say that I have NEVER had unprotected sex, but about a month ago, I noticed a small bump, and now I've noticed a few more. I also haven't had sex in quite a while, atleast not that kind.. so I'm really quite confused as to when this might have occured (especially since I keep in contact with the majority of my sexual partners).
