Is there any validity on the use of marijuana to treat the anxiety and physical tics such as handbitting and headbanging in adults with Autism? It has to be just as valid or even safer than using benzodiazapines and other "downers" over the long term.

I saw an article online somewhere called "Why I am Giving my 9-Year-Old Autistic Son Pot". I don't remember all the details but this is one of many cases where it has been used to treat autism. I'm sure if you googled it the article would come up. Marijuana doesn't cause any kind of physical or neurological dependency (only psychological – although you can get psychologically addicted to anything). You can get addicted to benzos. I've never puked because I didn't get to smoke my bowl but people get sick when they don't get their benzos.

I think you should watch a British documentary called 'the evil weed'. Basically, (if it's legal where you are) you need to buy some that is low in THC as THC will make anxiety a whole lot worse. If used pure, it should not cause any harm but remember everyone reacts differently to it.

I just use it recreationally.

they dont diagnose marijuana they prescribe it and sometimes they do for patients with certain forms of late stage terminal cancer to make their last few weeks comfortable

1. Glaucoma. (an eye disease which causes blindness.)

2. Chemotherapy. (For the nausea. it does not make you, the patient with CANCER, high at all. it just helps the nausea.

3. Chronic pain. (It has to be real. you can't make it up.)

Smoking, too, is known to affect the effectiveness of antipsychotic drugs.

Withdrawal symptoms, in the case of people suffering from schizophrenia, might be even worse. Nicotine replacement therapies might do better than expecting them to quit cold turkey.

when i was age 3 to about 7 or 8, i lived with my step mom who smoked all day, every day. i didint know at the time how bad it was and i would be by her constantly inhaling 2nd hand smoke. Now im wondering if i should get checked or not.

It would be extremely rare, almost never heard of, that a person your age would have lung cancer. The early symptoms of lung cancer are a persistent cough that lasts for weeks. if your breathing difficulties are distressing to you – your family physician can check that out for you with a quick listen through a stethoscope. Stay away from cigarettes and weed – both can cause cancer.
