People with central auditory processing disorder are unable to locate where sounds are coming from and often have a warping effect when they hear something, unable to exactly pinpoint where it is coming from. this sort of disorder is quite common and one of the more recognised causes of many developmental disorders and dyslexia is one of them. Auditory dyslexia, also known as dysphonetic dyslexia, is a disorder that affects a person’s ability to distinguish individual letter sounds within words. usually there is nothing wrong with the person’s hearing, but the brain is unable to correctly process the sounds it receives. While visual dyslexics can have trouble identifying written letters, auditory dyslexics have the same kind of problems hearing letter sounds.

Upon hearing the term “auditory processing deficit” most people think of someone who does not hear something well. They mistakenly are thinking about the person’s hearing acuity. Auditory processing is what the brain does with sound impulses once these impulses leave the ear. For some, the complicated chain of events in auditory processing presents barriers and is overlooked. this can result in false or inaccurate diagnoses. Sometimes a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is not ADD at all, but is a deficit in attention secondary to an auditory processing deficit. In other words, the auditory processing deficit causes the individual to look like he/she is not paying attention. why, you ask? Imagine you are in a bad cell phone area.

TUBERCULOSIS has not been eradicated, warn health chiefs.

They are mounting a campaign to make people across Halton aware of the disease.

Tuberculosis, known as TB, is a bacterial infection that can affect any part of th body, but most often the lungs.

Around 9,000 cases were reported in England and Wales in 2009, 819 of these in the north west, up from 743 in 2008.

Professor Dr Qutub Syed, director of the Health Protection Agency north west, said: “Our goal is to give people basic information on TB and its symptoms and the knowledge of what to do if they think they may have the disease.

“This will be one of our top priorities for the next six months.

“It would be a huge mistake for people to think that TB is just in immigrant communities in Britain.

“TB can affect anyone and no one should be complacent about it.

In most cases, TB is fully curable with a six month course of drugs.

the earlier the treatment starts, the more effective it will be.

Symptoms include a cough that lasts for more than three weeks, coughing up blood, night sweats, extreme tiredness and a lack of energy, very high temperatures (fever) and weight loss for no obvious reason.

some people are more at risk than others.

these include people who were exposed to TB in their youth, people whose immunity to infection has been lessened by illness or treatment.

People with chronic poor health as a result of homelessness, alcoholism and drug addiction are prone to TB.

Very young children and old people are also vulnerable.

People are urged to seek medical advice if they have any of these symptoms.

A month ago my husband asked me to rub his legs as he said cramps were really hurting him, he also said that he had diarrhoea.my husband has Diabetes and he thought it his pills that were making him go to the toilet so much. Sheryl's answer pretty much covered it and I want to add my 2 cents. A visit to the urologist for a PSA test and if suggested by the findings of the PSA, a biopsy to confirm/rule out cancer is really the only sure way. I had a lot of trouble with the first doctor I saw who neglected to refer me to a urologist ( I was almost 60 and my prostate was only slightly enlarged so he apparently felt no need to tell me about it) and further trouble with the first urologist I DID get to see over a year later. looking back, the worst mistake I made in handling my prostate cancer was my hesitancy to go to a different urologist. Be very proactive and don't only request the test, demand it if necessary! Best wishes for preferably a non-cancer diagnosis and if cancer is diagnosed, that it is caught early.

I read in the Opera's magazine that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women.

Is it a symptom ? If so how can that be?

Or do women just believe they have indigestion when indeed it is a pain being caused by their heart disease?

If you take medicine and it takes away the indigestion, then would it then not be related to heart disease at all?

I believe that it's not that indigestion is a symptom of heart disease in women but that when women are having a heart attack they sometimes mistake it for indigestion so they put off getting treatment which can have deadly outcome if they wait too long.

I don't think they know what they are talking about. indigestion is caused by acid reflux, a total different thing from heart problems so don't let them confuse. acid reflux can be cured too,. it's no big deal. read "natural cures they dont want you to know about" by kevin trudeau

Riley is right. People (both men and women) often think they have indigestion when, in fact, they are having a heart attack. The problem tends to be worse for women because the warning signs are often more vague or don't follow the more common symptoms usually experienced by men.

I just saw my best friend yesterday, but today she was out of school with the flu. I know it's really contagious and now I am TERRIFIED that I'm going to get it too. How long does it take for the symptoms to show up? and what would some early symptoms be?

i really don't know but i got the flu and im suffering from terrible fevers and headaches. i have to do the dishwashing at my house and the cooking. i hope my mom and my lil sis don't get it. the only reason im in yahoo is to find out how i can cure my fevers because i been drinking advils and it doesn't work.( sigh)

Really you may as well ask how long is a piece of string. Everybody is different, normally you would get symptoms within a few days.
You feel awful your limbs cramp, and you can not mistake it for an ordinary cold. You just have to give in go to bed and drink lots.
