Yes braces can fix that. go to your dentist office, and see if he or she recomends them, in that case they would give you a refferal to the orthodontist.

Dear Abby: Everyone knows the economy has hit hard times and, as a result, more people are working past the age of retirement.

“Anita” is in her late 60s, and we are certain she is showing symptoms of dementia. She has worked in our office about three years, after working in this field for more than 30 years elsewhere. But if you saw her in our office today, you would think it was her first week.

Anita makes multiple mistakes daily, then sits at her desk and cries. Our supervisor insists there is nothing he or HR can do in regard to talking (gently) to her because she could sue the company.

What’s the right thing to do for everyone involved?

Dear Stumped: I discussed your question with Nancy Bertrando, a respected California employment law specialist, who told me: “If a person is unable to perform the essential functions of her job — regardless of the reason — an employer does not have the obligation to keep the person in that position. however, regardless of whether your supervisor or HR thinks it is futile, Anita should be counseled and given the opportunity to fix the problem — if, indeed, it is fixable.”

Dear Abby: My husband runs an auto body shop and has always warned me to be extra careful in parking lots: “People don’t pay attention. They drive too fast,” etc. well, tomorrow I am going to the memorial service for a dear friend, “Mara.” She was only 46.

While Mara was putting her granddaughter into a stroller, they were hit. A woman driving too fast hit a car backing out of a parking space, careened off that car and ran over Mara. Mara was underneath the car until the fire department arrived and lifted it off her. Mara’s daughter saw it all.

A car can be as lethal as a gun. I didn’t “get it” before, but now I do.

should subside? I just completed a 7 day round for bacterial vaginosis (which my dr told me is common in pregnancy) and the symptoms are better but not completly gone. anyone know if they should be completly gone by now?

I would say they probably should be, or at least almost completely cleared up. you might need a second round of meds….if symptoms are still there after a couple of days, give the dr's office a call.

My little boy keeps getting these bad headaches and the doctor said after a ct scan that there was "a little" something going on in the sinus area and he was treated with antibiotics, and was headache free for 2 weeks and now it is back. he has no other symptoms other than the headache. I thought sinus infections would at least have a runny nose with it, or being stuffy.

Your little boy might have other symptoms that you are not aware of. I deal with sinus problems all the time and this time of the year is the worst. Is he complaining of any other discomfort like ears popping or itching, eyes burning or itching? are his eyes red? Does he feel tired or achy? he might be allergic to all the pollen that is out there right now. You did not say where you live but I can tell you if you live in the Atlanta area he is suffering like a lot of us right now. Call his doctors office and ask them what you should do. good luck.

Poor little fella…it sounds like allergies. This time of year and in the fall is the worst for allergens. My daughter has them and we start in Feb. with the nose sprays and Claritin. she is 9 now and we haven't been to the regular doctor for ear/sinus for 2 years now. been so much easier on her and us. the shot situation at the Ear/Nose/Throat was not fun, but that little bit of pain was worth finding out what she was allergic to. she is so much healthier and she knows if she doesn't do her nose sprays she will feel bad because of the allergens. good luck, I would ask your Pediatrician to refer you on to specialist.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is offering the Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine (LAIV or nasal spray influenza vaccine) at its office at 404 West 10th Street in McCook, and during flu shot clinics this flu season.

Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine (LAIV or nasal spray influenza vaccine) is a vaccine made with live, weakened viruses that cannot grow at normal body temperature and is given via a nasal sprayer.

This vaccine was approved for seasonal influenza viruses in 2003 and tens of millions of doses of the vaccine have been given in the United States.

“Adults as well as kids are opting for the nasal spray over the traditional injections for their annual flu shots, “states Myra Stoney, Director of SWNPHD. “Some adults have stated that nasal spray is the only way they want to receive their influenza vaccination.”

What are the risks from Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine – LAIV (nasal spray?)

A vaccine, like any medicine, could possibly cause serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions. the risk of a vaccine causing serious harm, or death, is extremely small.

Live influenza vaccine viruses very rarely spread from person to person. Even if they do, they are not likely to cause illness. LAIV is made from weakened virus and does not cause influenza. the vaccine can cause mild symptoms in people who get it.

“According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC): the most common side effects from flu shots have been soreness, redness, or tenderness where the shot was given; fever; and aches, states Kelli Pachner, Public Health Nurse at SWNPHD.

“Some people, who have gotten the nasal-spray flu vaccine, in use over the past seven years, have had runny nose, cough, or nasal congestion. neither the flu shot nor the nasal-spray vaccine can give you the flu.”

The CDC also has this to say regarding who can receive the nasal spray form of the vaccine, “The nasal-spray vaccine (LAIV) is approved for use in healthy people two to 49 years of age.

Nearly all healthy, non-pregnant health care workers, may receive LAIV if eligible, including those who come in contact with newborn infants (e.g., persons working in the neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU), pregnant women, persons with a solid organ transplant, persons receiving chemotherapy, and persons with HIV/AIDS.”

Some children and adolescents two-17 years of age have reported the following symptoms with the nasal spray

• runny nose, nasal congestion or cough

• headache and muscle aches

• abdominal pain or occasional vomiting or diarrhea

Some adults 18-49 years of age have reported the following symptoms with the nasal spray

• runny nose or nasal congestion

• cough, chills, tiredness/weakness

Mild problems associated with the injection (all ages):

• soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given

• hoarseness; sore, red or itchy eyes; cough
