My cousin is 5yrs old. he didn't concentrate well in pre-nursery, which was neglected owing to minor class. 7 months ago, his teachers complained that he has a problem of concentrating in class, if he sits at the back bench. when checked with the ophthalmologist, he acquired some kinda cylindrical lens.

Recently they realized that he finds it tough to identify letters, and spell them clearly. although he is good at maths. he just cant get the alphabets right.

Otherwise, he is good at speaking, interacting with others, playing, and all kinds of activities. One thing that has been noticed since he was young, is , he acts very mature for his age, speaks back to elders, like playing with himself, and entertains himself. he doesn't necessarily require the company of other kids. though he enjoys playing with others as well. just a normal kid otherwise…

plz tell me…. are these the signs of dyslexia??

I don't know if it is dyslexia- but it sounds like there may be a developmental delay of some sort. I would suggest taking him to a doctor for a proper diagnosis. But it sounds like he is a great kid, and he is so young that if there are any delays they can be treated.

no its just all some stupid game GOD PLAYS WITH US ALL.. kids are little arent they GOD i wouldnt believe anything at all any more after watching this world for 60 yrs GOD……

If you answer yes to three or four of the questions below for each age group, it is possible that the children concerned are dyslexic to some extent.

Children ages 8 or less:
Were they late in learning to speak?

Do they still have particular difficulty with reading or spelling? does this surprise you?

Do you have the impression that in matters not connected with reading and spelling, they are alert and bright?

Do they write letters and figures the wrong way around?

When doing calculations, have they needed the help of blocks, fingers, or marks on paper for longer than others of their age? do they have unusual difficulty remembering multiplication tables?

Do they have difficulty in telling left from right?

Are they unusually clumsy? (Not all dyslexic children are clumsy.)
