My child gets agitated with homework and her studies. she is fine until it comes down to that. she struggles with test. she seems to be an exceptionally smart child otherwise; but she does not test well at all. she twitches when she is put on the spot. do you know what i can do to help here. We are starting a schedule this week to where we will take 30min – an hour on each subject.

Anyway, I think it comes down to time management
We are living in a world, where there is a MAJOR changing of roles regarding mothers in the workplace, and two people (if married) working has made an impact. I would say your child is most likely, let me guess here, hyper-sensitive, intuitive, very intelligent = most likely rightfully struggling.
Time management will be the key to success, and don't guilt her into being a yes person .. .
Learn to say no sometimes, and let me guess
matching socks is a painful chore???
That is because, many ADHD kids were raised by parents who have been taught to packrat, or "never throw anything away"
This can cause severe depression for an ADHD child
Teach them to let go of some things (socks they have had since they were 4, because they may need them some day)
That's just an example

Let me sum it up like this
Less is more with ADD/ADHD
THe WORST thing you can do is have too many clothes,
too many socks, too many things to keep up with
If you haven't learned to organize, I can give you some tips
This is usually the case, due to single parent homes
and the role of the mother working now.

First of all put in WRITING that you want a complete CORE evaluation of your child (you have to list all the reasons why) . this test will let you know if she is behind grade level in anything. Then get a second outside opinion. Contact your pediatrician and ask for info on ADHD, and a referral to a Neuropsychologist. do not put it off. Maybe she doesn't have anything wrong, but the longer you put it off, the worse things will get. be prepared to document EVERYTHING and do everything in writing with the school. Also be prepared to have the school fight you all the way!!!!

Schools don't want to test for anything out of the ordinary because then they have to do something about it. It's not that they are "mean", but they are so overwhelmed with all the other stuff and budgets and what-not that your child's minor problem doesn't really matter to them. * Speaking as a mother who fought with the school system for years and finally got my son the help he needed!
BTW my son is ADHD and NOT on meds. We found other ways around the meds, but it has been difficult. Going on meds is an option, but don't think about that until you have a final diagnosis. and just because your kid behaves IN school doesn't mean they do NOT have ADHD!

You may talk to your childs teacher and see if he/she is fidgety at school too, doesnt finish work, cant concentrate and interrrupts. The quickest way to see if your child has ADD or ADHD it to give him/her a cup of cofee and se if it calms down your child. if that is the case, ask at school how you can have your child tested. if the coffee doesnt calm it down its just behavior.
