I cut two small, 1 inch pieces of eyeglass frame that are about almost twice the diameter of normal earring posts to hold my ear holes open. I vigorously washed the little pieces in soap and water, then put them in peroxide. could I possibly get tetanus from this? what kills the tetanus bacteria? I haven't worn earring in a few years so my ear holes are really small, I'm just trying to keep them open. My right ear got so tight that it hurt a little getting it in, I think I had to break the skin to get in in there. I just did it like 30 minutes ago. no lockjaw, no muscle spasms, no symptoms, I'm just trying to be cautious.

It is possible. You wouldn't be in THAT much trouble since you used peroxide, but rubbing alcohol would have been a better choice.

If you really wanted to be cautious, you wouldn't have put them in there at all. There are professionals for that.

You PROBABLY won't get tetanus, but if you're going to use random pieces of metal to keep your ear holes open, you should get a tetanus vaccination. It's one small shot, relatively cheap (possibly free, ask your county health department), and it will protect you up to 10 years.

Tetanus bacteria spores are especially hardy, and infection can be fatal, so get the shot, and really try not to break your skin with improvised piercing equipment.

For over a long period of time i have had lots of pain in my face, at first i thought it was an ear infection because of ear pain and hearing loss. but swimmers ear, peroxide and alcohol did nothing to help my pain. plus i can pull on my ear with absolutely no pain. so then i saw i had wisdom teeth growing in, and assumed that was the reason for all my pain. I try medication but they don't help, i try to numb my growing tooth, but nothing. Curious for results, i looked online to see what it could be! I stumble upon a disorder that has many symptoms that i have, like, ear pain, hearing loss, pain around the TM, but i still have many strange things going on with me…..
1. I have sudden bursts of pain around the triangular point in the lower jaw, and above my lip…..
2. below my lips is a numbed place that will not go way, and has sudden bursts of pain as well..

I am very scared and have researched into this disorder and found several things like it can cause lockjaw, which could lead to surgery. I saw that TMJ could be caused by improper posture because certain muscles are tight.. that cant be the case because im in ROTC, and all we do is stand up straight in perfect posture.. Ive been to the dentist and he said it could be an ear infection or TMJ..but ear infection does not seem likely and TMJ seems to be the case.

SO please can anyone help me? Im only 14 and am scared and sick in tired with the pain…
