Pollen allergies first become a concern during the month of April in most years. But warm temperatures in Florida and Georgia are already creating havoc for those who have to deal with the difficult seasonal allergy.

Dr. Stanley Fineman, an allergist with the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic, says, “Because the pollen counts have gotten so high, so early, people are starting to have more symptoms.” Pollen is spread through flowers and plants, which are blooming early because of the warm temperatures.

The most common allergy symptoms associated with pollen are sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes.

If a cooling trend hits the areas producing pollen, the symptoms may become much worse for allergy sufferers later this year. The problem is that the body will react to the disappearance of the pollen following its initial appearances only to have to face more of it later in the spring.

“You become sensitized to it,” Dr. Fineman said. “So when you’re sensitized and re-exposed, you can get an even more violent allergic reaction.”

I get a short bout of allergies at the same times every year (oct. and march.). sometimes it starts with a really uncomfortable sore throat, other times it is just a bit scratchy. Then I will either get a stuffed up nose, or sometimes its runny and i sneeze alot. is this normal and what causes it?

yup comes from different plants pollinating and the wind is blowing them around…go to your allergy immunizytion clinic and they can do a skin test to pinpoint which you are allergic to then they will give you a ten fold solution (shot) in the arm to slowly build your immune system up so you dont have the symptoms anymore….

March is the season for tree pollens, and October is ragweed and many people suffer with that problem including myself. Foods like soy, beef, wheat, and yeast have very bad effects on the health of a dog. when a canine experiences food allergies, it exhibits itching and digestion problems.

Inhalant allergies are common for those who live in the more urban areas with a lot of pollution like smog, cigarette smoke, smoke from fires, and the like. But these aren’t the only inhalant allergens. Air fresheners, dust particles, and pollen from flowers and plants can cause severe allergic reactions in most dogs.

Flea allergies are the most common of all. although it is considered as a contact allergy, the bite of a flea is so prevalent an allergen to so many dogs, it has become a threat in itself. The saliva of a flea that it leaves on the skin of the dog is what causes the allergic reaction on the skin. The dog feels itchy and scratches and bites the affected area, worsening the problem.

When the skin of the dog is affected by an allergic reaction, whatever the cause of the allergy may be and wherever the allergen may have settled, the skin allergy may now be considered as allergic dermatitis. This is somewhat a complication of the initial allergic reaction. when a dog starts to gnaw, chew, lick, and scratch the itchy part of its skin, it starts to redden, swell. This allergic dermatitis is very difficult to treat, and in some cases, it may even last a lifetime.

Although dogs are animals, they can still be sensitive to certain objects and substances. Dog owners should not assume that their pets can endure anything, eat anything, and live in any kind of environment. as dog owners, we should be responsible and discover the needs of our pets in order to prevent any problems such as allergies to inflict them.
