There are countless aspects of ulcerative colitis that at times can make anyone’s life close to unbearable. Here are a few ideas of some of the particularly hard colitis symptoms that most people wish they could live without.

Urgency

When most people are sitting on the couch or relaxing watching a television show, or even sitting in their car seat waiting for the light to turn green, colitis urgency can come into play. Urgency to go to the bathroom is just that, you need to find a restroom and you need to find one quickly. There is not much else you have on your mind when you are feeling like that. it is quite hard to explain to someone the feeling of having to fly to the bathroom, but it can come very quickly. the closest thing to compare it to would potentially be food poisoning.

Mucus

Another interesting colitis symptom is finding strange looking mucus next to your poops when you use the bathroom. This is also part of the disease and it is not known exactly why there is more mucus when someone has active colitis compared to when they are feeling well, but it is generally believed to be associated with the inflammation, and a bi-product of that.
