For the last two weeks I feel like I have had pressure on my heart. sometimes the pain goes to my left shoulder, then down to the hand. my arm aches a lot of the time. the doctor has checked my heart with a stethescope and said it's not beating irregularly. has anyone else experienced this, if so, what was it? Please go and see a different doctor. If you are having pain around or near your heart there could be many issues at hand. Listening to a heart with a stethoscope is senseless. you can have a regular heart beat but have some serious heart problems developing or some other conditions such as edema (fluid) around the heart, in the lungs pressing on the ribs near the heart, or an infection in the lining of the lungs, an infection on the lining of the heart and so on.

You need an EKG, blood work, possibly a 2D or 3D echo done, and even possibly a stress test.

Go to a different doctor.

if all your doc did was listen to your heart then you need a new doc. he's an idiot. you need to have blood tests done and an EKG. listening to your heart will only tell you it's beating, not whether you've had an attack of some kind. it's nearly impossible to have a heart attack in your teens to early twenties but it can happen on an outside chance. but do you really wanna bet your health on the fact that the doc knows that your heart is definitely still beating and that's it? that is unless he has some kind of magical ears that tell him the conductivity of your heart is ok based on the fact that you actually do have a heartbeat.

At the age of 35, I started having 'what I thought' were gastrointestinal issues. Then the pain progressed to my chest, jaw and arm. my fiance rushed me to the ER and I was having a FULL BLOWN heart attack!!!!!!! 100% blockage! I received an angioplasty and a stent! everyone in the ER was in shock to see a 35/F, not over weight having an MI! GET A SECOND, THIRD OR FORTH OPINION!!!!!!!!!!

I had a day a few weeks ago when I felt like pure he**! really didn't want to move. tightness in back muscles, weakness in arms and hands, a bad headache and dizziness (but dizz is usual for me).

Dr did EKG 2 days ago and informed me that I had had a heart attack, when was it? I am guessing it was the day I felt so bad.

So now he is sending me to cardiologist shop for stress testing and another EKG and I don't know what all.

Unfortunately, I think I have diabetes. I have been having many of the symptoms (frequent urination, I'm more thirsty, etc) …but I'm not sure of this yet. I blames this on myself, being an overweight 16 year old teenage girl who doesn't exercise. also my dad has it..so it can be genetic? But I have no idea. anyways, I've been having pain under my left ribs going around towards my left to the back.

Can this be it? can diabetes cause pancreas pain?

Very doubtful-I have been diabetic for over 10 years & have never had a pain in my pancreas even when I was 1st diagnosed. get your A1C blood test to see if you are even diabetic.

Not in my experience. Genetic Diabetes = #1 and you are born with it. #2 is the one you get as you get older. Go to a pharmacy or clinic and have your sugar levels tested. No more doubt. Fast, cheap and accurate.

The accurate diagnosis of diabetes is to be made by blood tests- fasting blood glucose and HbA1c- to begin with…highly important in itself-especially given your symptoms- and- should it be diabetes- to treat toward preventing short-run and long run complications…
And to your question- the pain you described seems to me unrelated in itself to possible or probable diabetes…it much depends of the duration- whether the pain has ben there for a couple of days, weeks or more… questions are to be asked in real life – by your attending doctor-and probably additional tests- such as abdominal ultrasound and blood tests may have to be ordered… try not to neglect…. get to your Family Doctor- there…

The pain (which is pretty annoying) is right in my stomach area, below my ribs and above my waist line. But when I push on MY right side it doesnt hurt….only when I push on my left side (diagonal-up from my belly-button) it bites with pain. not quite sure what to think other than wait it out. I think it may have been my late night munchies with pretzels and cream-cheese wiz…..

What causes lower Left side back Pain?

Many people experience lower left side back pain, which can last for days, weeks or months at a time. Common symptoms may include localized pain below the ribs and around the side of the torso. in addition, lower left side back pain may be intermittent in frequency in which the pain may be more tolerable during certain hours of the day. Often times, people who have lower left side back pain will notice a stabbing-like pain or dull, aching pain. Many people may also be hyper-sensitive to touch, which stays localized to the lower left side of the back. For others, the pain remains unaffected even with changes in dietary habits. some people who have lower left side back pain may also experience pain and discomfort when taking deep breaths, lying still or during exercise. changes in bowel movements may also be accompanied with lower left side back pain.

There are very few specific symptoms of prostate cancer. It usually grows so slowly that a man could die of something else before the cancer showed external symptoms. Difficulties with urination can be an indication of cancer, or it can just be benign hyperplasia (overgrowth) of the prostate.

More reliable indicators are calcium deposits or hardening in the prostate (to be found by a digital rectal exam) or a sharp rise in the serum level of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), done by a blood test. That's how I was diagnosed. I did have other symptoms, such as transient, sharp pain in the ribs, shoulders and other places, and an easily fractured rib, but that was due to metastasis, late in the game. the symptoms did not specifically indicate cancer.

If you are having chronic urination problems, or if you're over 45, you should probably get a DRE and a PSA test. Without those, you'll never know. If there are signs of cancer, a biopsy will be next. Depending on what is found, you may be facing surgery, irradiation, hormone suppression therapy or nothing at all. A slow-growing cancer may not need anything more than occasional monitoring. most prostate cancer patients die of something else. Surgery, radiation, hormone therapy or chemotherapy can greatly improve the odds of surviving aggressive cancers. but of course statistics are not individual people. Everyone has a different experience.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 18 months ago. I had no symptoms. my PSA kept rising and I had a biopsy which showed a small amount of Cancer. I was treated with radioactive seed implants and I am doing fine.

I expect to be around for many more years. I am 62.

Symptoms dont always tell what stage the cancer is in. Could still be very early.

If its early, its almost 100%

Even in stage 2 its very high, 95% or more.

Stage 3 gets dicey.

Yellow skin and eyes, stool that floats, are two of the symptoms. A co-worker looked very yellow and I noticed it for months but did not say anything, then we found out he had prostate cancer. Patrick Swayze in his book said that he noticed it because when he drank champagne it burned his stomach like he was drinking acid.

For a few years I have this burning pain in my upper abdomen just below my breast.sometimes it is all the way across and sometimes it is just on the left side right below the ribs.I have had c scan,light ran down my throat,up the other way,with nothing found except acid reflux and a colon polyp.I have very bad acid indigestion at times worse then others.I went to the emergency room after I could not take the pain another day and he said it was ulcers.no test at all he did not even touch me,just told me it was ulcers.Never been told before by any other Dr. That I had any ulcers.but he says ulcers after seeing me for three minutes.Gave me some green stuff which helped some,but I still get this irritating burning pain and stomach bloating.Has anyone with ulcers have this same burning pain.

From what I have heard, acid reflux can cause the burning. I believe that ulcers are accompanied by blood in the stool. I am no doc! You could always go for a second opinion if you don't believe you have been examined thoroughly enough or that your symptoms need more consideration.

I also have ulcers i have duodenal ulcers i suffer with the pain at times but i just take axid once a day and prilosec twice a day and it helps alot. You probably need to find out what u eat or drink that causes the pain. mine comes from greasy food and caffeine and sometimes hurts because i smoke

symptoms seem right on. almost a gnawing pain in center of chest. dont lay down or bend over within an hour and a half of eating, stay away from alcohol and caffeine for a bit and NO smoking, lots of things irritate them maybe keep some tums on you or get the pepcid stuff.

I have had and still have stomach ulcers, plus acid reflux. the pain is sometimes unbearable. it feels like someone lit a match inside your stomach and it just keeps burning. sometimes it radiates through my upper back and its very painful. Zantac works, you have to take twice as much as recommended at first though.It's an over the counter drug. a natural remedy is vinegar. Just a tablespoon of regular or apple cider vineger works instantly. it tastes awful but it works.

The Damaging Proteins
The term "gluten" is, in a sense, a generic term for the storage proteins that are found in grains. in reality, each type of protein – gliadin in wheat, secalin in rye, hordein in barley, avenin in oats, zein in corn and oryzenin in rice – is slightly different from the others. the "gluten" in wheat, rye, barley, and in a much lower amount, oats, contains particular amino acid sequences that are harmful to persons with celiac disease. the damaging proteins are particularly rich in proline and glutamine (especially the amino acid sequences which are in the following orders: Pro-Ser-Gln-Gln and Gln-Gln-Gln-Pro). as peptides, some such as 33-MER, cannot be broken down any further. in people with celiac disease, 33-MER stimulates T-cells to produce antibodies. the antibodies, in turn, attack the villi in the small intestine, reducing their ability to absorb nutrients. it is important to note that these sequences are NOT found in the proteins of corn and rice.

The Nature of the Injury
The damage to the small intestine (the jejunum) caused by this disease is very slow to develop and is insidious. it is:
· almost certainly mediated by the immune system.
· associated with ANTIBODIES to gliadin, reticulin and/or endomysial (smooth muscle) proteins.
· probably not directly caused by the antibodies, though they may be signals for cell-mediated immunity.
· probably produced by the cellular immune system (T cells) – but only when gluten-type prolamins are present.
· reversible, in most cases, to completely normal bowel function, if the injurious protein is excluded from the diet.

How Does One "Catch" Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease cannot be "caught," but rather the potential for CD may be in the body from birth. its onset is not confined to a particular age range or gender, although more women are diagnosed than men. it is not known exactly what activates the disease, however three things are required for a person to develop CD:
· A genetic disposition: being born with the necessary genes. the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) genes specifically linked to celiac disease are DR3, DQ2 and DQ8.
· A trigger: some environmental, emotional or physical event in one’s life. While triggering factors are not fully understood, possibilities include, but are not limited to adding solids to a baby’s diet, going through puberty, enduring a surgery or pregnancy, experiencing a stressful situation, catching a virus, increasing WBRO products in the diet, or developing a bacterial infection to which the immune system responds inappropriately.
· A diet: containing WBRO, or any of their derivatives.

How is Celiac Disease Diagnosed?
When working with a physician to diagnose and/or confirm celiac disease (CD), three major steps are taken. First, a thorough physical examination is conducted, including a series of blood tests, sometimes referred to as the Celiac Blood Panel. second, a duodenal biopsy is performed with multiple samples from multiple locations in the small intestine. And third, the gluten-free diet is implemented. When the patient shows a positive response to the diet – symptoms subside and the small intestine returns to its normal, healthy state – the diagnosis of CD is confirmed.

1: Examination
Patient History
When reviewing a patient's medical history and symptoms with a physician, the following areas should be considered in the discussion: (The first three are applicable to adults and children. the last is specific to children.)
· What are the symptoms? how long have they been present? how often do they occur?
· What is the patient's emotional state? is it consistent throughout the day? When and for how long do the symptoms occur?
· What else is involved? other diseases? other organs?
· How is the child developing?

Physical Examination
Depending on the presentation of symptoms, the physician will check for some of the following items:
· emaciation
· pallor (due to anemia)
· hypotension (low blood pressure)
· edema (due to low levels of protein, [albumin] in the blood)
· dermatitis herpetiformis (skin lesions)
· easy bruising (lack of vitamin K)
· bone or skin and mucosa membrane changes due to vitamin deficiencies
· protruding or distended abdomen (intestine dysmotility)
· loss of various sensations in extremities including vibration, position and light touch (vitamin deficiency)
· signs of severe vitamin/mineral deficiencies which may include: · -diminished deep tendon reflexes
· muscle spasms (magnesium and/or calcium deficiency)
· bone tenderness and bone pain (due to osteomalacia)
Blood Tests
A number of tests, sometimes collectively referred to as the Celiac Blood Panel, will aid the physician in diagnosis. the tests may include, but are not limited to:
· Serologic Tests
1. EMA (Immunoglobulin a anti-endomysium antibodies)
2. AGA (IgA anti-gliadin antibodies)
3. AGG (IgG anti-gliadin antibodies)
4. tTGA (IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase)
· Tolerance or Measure of Digestion/Absorption Tests
1. Lactose tolerance test.

2: Biopsy
In the event that clinical signs and laboratory tests indicate probable malabsorption, a biopsy of the small intestine [jejunal] is called for. in this test, a small flexible biopsy instrument is passed through a tube, down the throat, through the stomach and into the upper end of the small intestine where patchy, multiple snippets of tissue are gathered. the tube is removed and the tissue samples are examined under a microscope for signs of injury.

Chesty cough and weight loss,coughing up blood

Lung cancer can cause persistent cough and hemoptysis (coughing of blood) if the tumor involves a bronchus.
If the tumor involves the surface of the lung or invades the ribs, it can cause persistent pain. Sometimes this pain will be sharp and accentuated by deep breaths or coughing. this type of pain is called "pleurisy".

If a major air passage is narrowed by tumor, shortness of breath and pneumonia may occur.

If the tumor metastasizes to the brain, it can cause headaches or disturbances of vision, speech, balance, muscle power or sensation.

Bone metastasis presents as persistent localized pain in bones.

None of these symptoms is specific for lung cancer, and all can be caused by benign diseases including pneumonia, but when they occur in a patient who is a cigarette smoker, they should be promptly evaluated by a physician.

Lung cancer often has cough as it's first symptom.

The problem is that almost all smokers have chronic cough. Chronic cough in smokers is usually due to chronic bronchitis, an inflammation of the lining of the airways produced by inhaling smoke.

Smokers with chronic bronchitis also produce sputum, so-called "productive cough". Chronic bronchitis can be accompanied by destruction of lung tissue by emphysema or chronic obstructive lung disease, sometime also called "COPD". These problems also can cause cough as well as shortness of breath with activity. Chronic bronchitis can also lead to the coughing up of blood, called "hemoptysis" by doctors. Because almost all smokers cough, it is not possible to use the presence of cough as an accurate early warning sign for lung cancer. Coughing up blood is a more ominous sign and should be considered a serious warning that a lung cancer might be present.

My advice is that any smoker who has a chronic cough or coughs up blood should do a few important things. first, the smoker should call his/her doctor for an appointment. During the visit, they should ask for help with smoking cessation. (If you have already stopped smoking, that is great, but there is still a risk of lung cancer, and so the doctor visit is not optional.)

They should also ask for a pulmonary function test to see if there has been any damage to the lung's function. There is some information that shows that the risk of lung cancer is higher in smokers who have reduced pulmonary function tests.

They should also ask for a radiographic study of the lungs. In the past, chest x-ray was the standard, but now CT scan has been proven to be a much more sensitive test for lung cancer detection.

Symptoms and Warning Signs
Unfortunately, the symptoms of lung cancer can take many years to develop which often leads to diagnosis at an advanced stage of this disease. Some of the symptoms that may occur include:
Smoker's cough that persists or becomes intense.

Persistent chest, shoulder, or back pain unrelated to pain from coughing.

Increase in volume of sputum.

Wheezing.

Nonsmoker's cough that persists for more than 2 weeks.

Change in color of sputum.

Blood in sputum.

Repeated episodes of pneumonia or bronchitis.
Other symptoms that can be related to late-stage lung cancer can include:

Fatigue.

Loss of appetite.

Headache, bone pain, aching joints.

Bone fractures not related to accidental injury.

Neurologic symptoms, such as unsteady gait and/or episodic memory loss.

Neck and facial swelling.

Unexplained weight loss.
Other signs and symptoms may be caused by the spread of lung cancer to other parts of the body, including headaches, weakness, pain, bone fractures, bleeding, or blood clots.

there may not be any symptoms!

if there are symptoms they can include:
coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, pneumonia.

bone pain, fatigue, weight loss, fever, anemia, clubbing of the nails.

chest pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the face and or neck, hoarseness.

DO NOT try to self diagnose! if you think there is a possibility that you or someone you know has these symptoms see a medical professional immediately so that you will know what is really happening. DO NOT wait to seek help, time IS NOT your friend when dealing with cancer!!!
