my name is Melissa Morgan. in 2006 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. At the age of 36 years, with two small daughters and a high-pressure career as a nurse, theater, news was a shock. this diagnostic information on some health problems I had experienced in 2000, first the birth of our daughter in.

2 years after diagnosis, had a number of symptoms such as fatigue, blurred vision and muscle control has fallen by over a point where it meant that Icould no longer work. part of my career I had trouble with questions make the place much pressure on me in my daily work, especially in trying to ensure that the issues I deal with that the slightest impact on my girl.

His answer to me was to see: "Wow, look into his eyes." he had noticed a significant change in me that had I been the last 4-5 weeksseen. my husband Derek visited a chiropractor himself and his next visit to the chiropractor found that watching me and Derek said that "there seemed a degree of error that occur that do not occur easily with MS." my neurologist had me monitoring my ability to walk. The first test I did, I could for about 4 minutes before you go tired and with significant weakness in the legs, and I had to stop after 10 minutes. 5 months afterI was colostrum for 10 minutes on foot before the leg began to get weak and I had to stop after 20 minutes. Do the same walking trial in September 2010, I was able to walk for 20 minutes before leg weakness became pronounced after 30 minutes and had to quit. in 10 months, an improvement of 200%.

Things seem to change and fast. this has had to do a profound impact on my sense of well being and my ability with life from day to day so much better. Previouslymy treatment goals were to try to slow the rate of degeneration and keep me in the best possible care you can find some hope in the coming years.

Now I hope to have a better lifestyle, I am already experiencing. rather than wait to be able to do less with my girls grow up, are now in a position to do more, with an expectation of continuous improvement. even if I only my current level of health, I would consider that a surprise successResult.

while I is always positive, the psychological pressure of expectation has further degeneration do to you too much with physics at the beginning of the daily stress in dealing with chronic disease. this pressure is relaxed on the day as my body seems to be better cope with my condition.

Speaking a second language may slow the rate at which the brain declines with age, showing that bilingual people are better protected against Alzheimer’s disease than people who use only one language.

Several studies have now demonstrated a clear link between using a second language and cognitive decline, which can be explained by the idea that bilingualism acts like a “mental gymnasium” that keeps the brain active in later life, scientists said.

The latest study, presented to the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, found bilingual patients with probable Alzheimer’s were more likely have delayed symptoms compared to monolingual patients. in fact, the effect of speaking a second language produced a stronger effect on delaying the onset of Alzheimer’s than any drug currently used to control the disease, said Ellen Bialystok, professor of psychology at York University in Toronto, Canada.

“The finding of a four- to five-year delay in the onset of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease is dramatic. there are no pharmacologic interventions that have shown comparable effects.” Our interpretation of the present findings is that bilingualism is a cognitively demanding condition that contributes to cognitive reserve in much the same way as do other stimulating intellectual and social activities.”

The researchers believe the effect is directly connected with using a second language, rather than a side-effect of differences in occupation or education between bilingual and monolingual people. Experiments suggest it has something to do with the extra mental effort that goes into using a second language, Professor Bialystok said.

“Being bilingual has certain cognitive benefits and boosts the performance of the brain especially one of the most important areas known as the executive control system. We know that this system deteriorates with age but we have found at every stage of life it functions better in bilinguals. They perform at a higher level.

“It is rather like a reserve tank in a car. When you run out of fuel, you can keep going for longer because there is a bit more in the safety tank,” she said.

Judith Kroll, professor of psychology at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, said recent studies have shown that juggling two or more languages helps to exercise the brain and keeps it fit in the elderly. the bottom line is that bilingualism is good for you.”

Bilingual people engage in “code switching”, mental negotiations between which language they are using.

It’s going to be rad.”

Autism, a developmental disorder that appears in the first three years of life, affects the brain’s normal development of social and communication skills. Over the past two decades, autism prevalence as risen by up to 600 percent. Today, one in every 110 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. And for Kachinsky, the cause hits close to home. “I have friends who have made a career working with autistic children and I admire their dedication in working with those living with autism,” he says. “I also think it’s part of my role as pro to utilize that status and influence for positive efforts like Autism Speaks.”

Autism remains a challenging condition for children and their families, but the outlook today has improved. Today, with the right therapy, many of the symptoms of autism can be mitigated, though most people will have some symptoms throughout their lives. Kachinsky believes that the joint effort between etnies and Autism Speaks will help raise awareness of the disorder. “As a pro BMX rider, I believe that being a good role model is crucial. Kids are paying close attention to what we do. And if we take their attention and expose them to different causes and amazing organizations like Autism Speaks, we can educate them and hopefully encourage them to support the causes that are important to them personally.”

I was just wondering because we were talking about it is science and i want to know if it takes a while for the disease to show or does the baby have symptoms right away….and sorry for my spelling!

some babies will have symptoms when they are born and some wont

Most of the time babies dont show symptoms right away. thats why alot of states now have mandatoring testing. my daughter is 10 months old and doesnt show any symptoms.

The sad thing is, this probably won’t do much to sway certain parents who are convinced vaccines are so dangerous (while they, ironically, rely on them to protect their kids by taking advantage of the kids who do get fully immunized. if Polio were as prevalent today as it was before the vaccine, I doubt these parents would be so brazen with their philosophical belief exemptions). The stupid thing is, they constantly blame “big pharma” for putting profits (which in reality are not that great) before kids’ safety. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind the hysteria did that exact thing. I don’t know what the tipping point be to kill this STUPID anti-vaccine movement, because science and truth hasn’t seemed to do it. I just pray it doesn’t involve the lives of too many innocent children. not only are they putting kids lives in jeapordy by buying into this nonsense, but they are getting in the way of REAL research about autism and related disorders.
