is it possible to have a cold or sinus probs with no congestion?

my right ear hurts, my throut is a little sore, my head is a litte sore, behind my eyes are uncomfortable, i feel quite achy around neck etc, im getting flushes (fever) and i feel like poo…but i dont have any congestion, my nose is dry… my dad has a cold he caught sunday his symptoms started and i stayed with him all last week so maybe ive picked something? but i dont have congestion or anything its weird it feels like i have something but i dont know what… thanks for any advice

when I get these symptoms, it's my TMJ acting up. That's a condition of the jaw joint, and can cause hearing loss, headaches, sinus pain, tooth and jaw ache and all the problems you're describing, including swollen glands. You can research TMJ on the web, you will learn alot and be surprised at all the complications.

For painful headaches and sinus pain especially, you need to attack the pain at the source. try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray.) a full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. it soothes with warmth, it draws out the entire gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean, but without the eye stinging).

I spent the last month fighting this same thing. I felt the pressure and just felt crappy but there wasn't any blowing of my nose and there was a strain to talk and more. the worst part is that everything but water had a terrible rotten taste to it for at least 2 weeks. I ended up getting the full blown flu after a bit and that consisted of 104 temperature and alot of sleeping. the only thing that made feel better was cough syrup (lots of it) with a mix of Tylenol, IB profen and Excedrin migraine. I know it sounds like to much medicine but I was desperate. Good luck and I'm sorry that some else has to live thru all the crap too.

For two days I have had these symptoms,
sneezing,
runny nose (clean snot) but alot of it.
fatigue
no fever
off balance, kinda dizzy
sinus pain and pressure top and bottom of eyes
itchy ears
no appitite.
Should I give it a few days or go see a doctor now?

If your conditions worsens or lasts more than a week, see your doctor.

If you are coughing up pheghm that is not white – see your doctor – you now have a bacterial infection and should be treated.

I'd head to a doctor, you don't want to deal with chronic sinusitis.
Trust me on that one.

Activity: Day#1–9 hour flight, arriving with severe headache that strong but OTC meds won't touch; Days #2, #3–needing to visit restroom often, feeling like might throw up, but didn't. Day #4–fly back, not sleeping well

…it started by waking up in morning with blocked nose and general cold symptoms which seemed to clear up by the afternoon. However in the afternoon I would get a heavy / pressure feeling across my head and eyes (sinus pain I assume).

After about 4 weeks of this, it started to get much worse so I went to the doctor and he put me on a course of antibiotics (amoxocillin), which made all the worse syptoms (a lot of pressure, very sore thoat etc) fade.

However after finishing the antibiotics I was still not completely better – I had sinus pain, lots of mucus and swollen glands.

I went back to the doctor and he said either the antibiotic didnt work or it was a viral infection (which I may have got twice because it has gone on for so long). so he gave me another course of antibiotics.

Just finished the second course today – and still not fully better. I have swollen gland, sinus pain with mucus (always have to blow nose).

I am going travelling for 6 weeks, next week – and I really want to get rid of this completely before I go.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had similar? Think only thing I can do now is boast my immune system – can anyone recommend good things to take?

P.S. I have been doing all the stuff they tell you to do – sinus rinse, steam face, plenty of sleep, Vitamin C etc…
