I am showing some symptoms for testicular cancer. I have booked an appointment with my GP next week. I was thinking, if it turns out it is cancer, what can they do for me considering they are notbased in a Hospital (just a health centre)? would I not just be better going to A&E? Is your GP always your first stop for Health concerns like this? From there you will be told what it is. if they think it is cancer then they will get in to remove it. then a biopsy is done. if it is cancer then you have to go through what ever procedures they have for you depending on the kind and stage of the cancer.
The think to do is move fast. Especially if it is cancer.
Good Luck!!!
Remember too that if it is cancer not to worry too much.
Dear Dr. Donohue: I have hemochromatosis — too much iron in the body. My doctor takes blood every other week. what can you tell me about it? What’s the end result?

Dear H.G.: Hemochromatosis (HE-moe-CROW-muh-TOE-siss) is an unpronounceable name with close to zero recognition by the general public.

The sad truth is it is a fairly common condition. It’s one of the most widespread inherited illnesses.

Normally the digestive tract absorbs just enough iron to replace daily losses. People with two hemochromatosis genes — one from the mother and one from the father — absorb far too much iron. The excess is deposited in many organs, like the liver, pancreas, heart, pituitary gland and testes, and severely damages them.

Signs that these organs are in trouble don’t appear until later in life — age 40 for men and older for women, who lose iron from menstruating. Frequently the first indication of trouble is abnormal liver tests, discovered when a person has an exam for some unrelated reason.

If hemochromatosis is discovered early, treatment can begin early and organs are saved. if it goes undiscovered, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, heart failure, diabetes and skin with a bronzed hue are some of the possible complications.

With early treatment, hemochromatosis patients live a normal life. Treatment is simple. it consists of periodic removal of blood, the body’s storage depot of iron.

Because this is a genetic disease, your close relatives — parents, brothers and sisters — should be screened for it. A genetic test for your spouse will tell you if your children also should have a genetic test. The gene test is a relatively new breakthrough in this illness. it permits early treatment and prevents the complications of the illness.

Dear Dr. Donohue: I have followed the suggestion that we should drink eight glasses of water each day for good health. I recently was diagnosed with low blood sodium. I was told to reduce the amount of water I drink. Shouldn’t we be informed by medical professionals that eight glasses of water a day isn’t necessary?

Dear P.L.: OK. Eight glasses of water a day isn’t necessary. People should drink enough fluids — all fluids count — to keep their urine color pale-yellow and to keep themselves from being thirsty.

You have to drink quite a large amount of fluids, water included, to lower your blood sodium. Did you have any symptoms from your drop in sodium?

I’m not sure where the “eight glasses a day of water” originated or why it did. Water doesn’t flush toxins out of the body as was once thought. It’s a rule that should be discarded.

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Emerging Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EHSI):

“each new stem cell breakthrough that emerges encourages us to push forward to help usher in the Stem Cell Era of medicine.”

at the annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology last week in Philadelphia, researchers from Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., announced that it may be possible for people with type 1 diabetes to grow their own insulin-producing cells, a breakthrough that could lead to a cure for the disease.

the Georgetown team, led by developmental biologist Ian Gallicano, isolated sperm-producing stem cells from the testes of organ donors. the Georgetown researchers then treated the cells with chemicals to coax them into mimicking beta-islet cells from the pancreas, the same kind of cells that are compromised in diabetes, and injected them into mice with diabetes. according to the report, the rodents were cured of disease symptoms for a week.

“If stem cells can be modified to produce enough insulin to cure diabetes in people, we could see human trials begin soon on a cure,” said Cindy Morrissey, EHSI’s president and CEO. “Each new stem cell breakthrough that emerges encourages us to push forward to help usher in the Stem Cell Era of medicine.”

Emerging Healthcare Solutions is committed to developing new stem cell treatments for previously incurable diseases. Earlier this month, EHSI announced its acquisition of Panamanian biotech firm CelulasGenetica, a Central American leader in stem-cell technology acquisition and development. CelulasGenetica is working on an international patent application for the Rutherford Procedure, a revolutionary new stem-cell treatment for liver disease. the company licensed the procedure from a Chinese firm, BBFITCL, and plans to conduct the treatment’s clinical trials in China, as well.

the Rutherford Procedure is being developed to use proton therapy to destroy scar-tissue cells in the liver using high-energy proton beams, a non-invasive treatment proven to minimize damage to healthy tissues and to eliminate the side effects (including nausea) of traditional radiation therapy.

As the scar tissue is systematically destroyed by the proton therapy, plans call for a catheter to deliver the patient’s own cultured stem cells directly to the liver through the bloodstream. As more and more diseased tissue is destroyed, these cultured stem cells could help regenerate the patient’s damaged liver into a healthy organ once more.

Emerging Healthcare Solutions, inc. (Pink Sheets:EHSI):

The Rutherford Procedure is being developed to use proton therapy to destroy scar-tissue cells in the liver using high-energy proton beams, a non-invasive treatment proven to minimize damage to healthy tissues and to eliminate the side effects (including nausea) of traditional radiation therapy.
