Many people have suffered debilitating symptoms caused from the bite from the small deer tick species. These are especially small ticks and are usually more infectious in the nymph stage. because of their small size, seeing one on you takes looking for it. Learning all you can about Lyme disease and tick bite prevention is the best way to avoid getting bitten and getting sick from one.

The deer tick is the most likely species to infect with this particular infection. They are more infectious when they are in the nymph stage, but this also means it will be harder to see them. In fact, these ticks are only the size of a pin head when an adult. Taking the steps to keep them off of you is the greatest way to keep from getting bitten.

When you are outdoors, make sure you pay attention to tall grasses or wooded areas. These are prime areas for ticks and keeping an eye out for one on you is essential to keep from being bitten. Stay on trails that are clear and try to avoid sitting on logs or stumps. These are places that ticks love to live in and placing your body in their way can be a recipe for disaster. You should take care to use spray insect repellents as well.

Never use your fingers to pull a tick off you that is latched on. the reason for this is because ticks have barbs in their mouth that can remain behind if they are not pulled straight up and back out. Specially made tweezers for extracting them is the best choice. Avoid touching the tick with bare hands to prevent higher risk of being infected.

Symptoms of tick disease are similar at on onset to those of the flu. You may have a high fever and body aches in addition to a rash around the area of the bite. In some cases, however, there is no evidence of a rash, making this disease hard to diagnose. These are symptoms you should make sure to see your doctor about if you have been anyplace that would allow you to be bitten. Blood tests can be performed for a sure diagnosis. ask about the vaccine that is now available for preventing this disease.

Cases of this disease that are not caught early can turn into something quite painful and debilitating. Some people have suffered life long cases of arthritis due to being bitten by a tick. Many have severe headaches that leave them sensitive to light and sound. You might also have diarrhea and cramping in the abdominal area along with vomiting. Preventing these things from occurring can be done by watching out for those ticks that get on you.

Check online to see how well your area has been tested for ticks and the diseases they carry. Many areas do not perform extensive testing because of fewer bites being reported. however, this does not mean you should not take precautions about Lyme disease and tick bite prevention steps.

This is part of an ongoing series of real life success stories from people all over the world who have been impacted by the Paleo lifestyle and the Paleo Solution. Read Ben’s story below.

It was a real pleasure to meet you at Art’s book talk in Soho. I’ve been a listener since episode # 1 and I want to thank you again and let you know that the work you’ve done has helped me in ways that far exceed the benefits of nutritional guidance…

I, like you, was an athlete and a trainer. I wrote a fitness column for a newspaper out of college, and I’d always prided myself an example of robust health. also, like you, I lost my health in my twenties, and, in an all-out attempt to regain it, set off down a path that would take me through just about every medical and dietary paradigm imaginable.

In my case, catastrophe struck in the form of a tick bite that I never new I had. – It took dozens of doctors and several years of debilitating symptoms before I received a diagnosis of late-stage, Neurological Lyme disease (an ever increasing epidemic that half the medical community claims doesn’t exist). – And once I did find a “lyme literate” MD, who believed that my crippling fatigue, migrating pain, bouts of paralysis, and multiple brain lesions might be something more then a psychosomatic response, his only solution was to soak me in a steady stream of oral, Intra-muscular, and Intravenous antibiotics for 3 years straight; after which time I’d, not only innihilated my gut flora, but also forced the Lyme-bacteria deeper into my cells where it was effectively blocked from further treatment by a thick layer of systemic candida overgrowth. (eating a “clean” detoxifying vegan diet of fruits nuts and whole grains, in retrospect, was the worst thing I could’ve been doing during this whole time) Yup – at age 26, too weak to walk the length of a city block, and too brain-fogged to tie my own shoos (seriously), I considered myself pretty much screwed.

It wasn’t until after I went strict paleo for a year that my candida levels eventually came down to a point where I could successfully get through to, and treat the Lyme using gentle homeopathic methods that, when implemented in the right context (low-carb paleo diet) have proven to be incredibly successful! (hence my making it out to the book talk event : )

So, yes, you may now say that the paleo diet even played a major role in rescuing someone from the depths of the rabbit hole that is the world of chronic Lyme – but, honestly, what helped me the most from listening to you is the confidence I gained to pursue my own path toward health no matter what!

The world of chronic Lyme is fraught with taboos, politics, and pre-conceived notions of treatment. your podcast, Andy and Robb, and your personal story Robb, inspired me to never give up; to ask all the essential questions in the face of dogmatic medical practices and demand answers; to be skeptical about everything and never settle when my health is at stake until I found a way that worked for me.. and ultimately, saved my own life.

I Thank you both infinitely for all your sound advice but more then that, for your message of personal empowerment. you are truly leading a ground-up revolution that inspires people to do what it takes to save their own skin… And I’m living proof of that. All the best and good seeing you Robb!

- Ben

It is easier to treat Lyme disease when it is caught in its early stages. Finding the tick bite quickly will aid in treating the disease with minimal issues. Treating and overcome Lyme disease can be more difficult if you are asymptomatic and don’t realize you have the disease until it’s in its later stages. here are some of the treatment options that you have to choose from if you manage to contract this disorder.

The sooner you begin seeing the symptoms of Lyme Disease the better off you’ll be. You may need to see your doctor any time you are bitten by a tick for antibiotic treatment. Those with heart, lung or kidney problems need to be especially mindful of this.

You can begin your treatment while your doctor tests the tick to see if it is a carrier for Lyme disease. if the tick tests positive you’ll already be on your way to healing. the antibiotics will boost your immune system and if the tick is negative you don’t have to worry about infections. It’s a win win situation. When you become a victim of Lyme disease you will have to endure a lot of suffering. Sadly this is one of those illnesses that can afflict all aspects of your body – from you joints to your muscles and even your brain. Several people who are infected with Lyme disease have to experience muscle pain and headaches. the simplest way to treat the symptoms of Lyme disease is with over the counter painkillers, such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol. These healing treatments won’t completely rid you of the condition (powerful prescribed meds can do that, exclusively), of course they can assist you in having an easier time of contending with the symptoms.

Pregnant women need to talk to their doctor as soon as possible if they feel they may have Lyme disease. It is believed that the mother can pass Lyme disease on to the fetus. if caught in the early stages, it should still be fairly simple to treat even while pregnant. Treating anything, though, is not exactly easy when you are pregnant. All Lyme disease treatments have the potential to affect your baby.
