I need a list of some fatal allergies and their symptoms for a book I'm writing. Food would probably be the easiest to write, but I'm sure I could at least try to pull something different off. also, the more symptoms the better (in this case).
Thanks so much!

natural rubber latex, drugs such as penicillin based antibiotics, local anaesthetics, some anti inflammatories, foods such as peanuts, walnuts, fish, cows milk, eggs (yolk or white) [often a cause of vaccine reactions], tomato, kiwi, banana, bee and wasp stings… even exercise can cause anaphylaxis in a few unlucky people. There are lots more triggers out there

Symptoms of anaphylactic shock include:

Hives
itching skin
nausea/ vomiting/ diarrhoea
palpitations
swelling (odema) most dangerous on tongue or throat
'feeling of impending doom'
collapse

Blood pressure goes down as the fluids leak out of circulation.

There are a lot of good web sites that have a lot of information on this subject. For in depth medical information immunology textbooks often explain how allergic reactions progress in great detail.

Things people can have a fatal reaction to are: milk, eggs, peanuts, strawberries, bee stings, penicillin, tree nuts, and even the smell of skunk. The symptoms are usually similar: hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, and a feeling of doom. a reaction to skunk can also cause laryngitis.

Food allergies are a huge public health threat.

However, for the first time, a panel of experts has agreed on the best way to diagnose and manage the problem.

One in 25 people suffer from food allergies.

In some cases, food allergies can lead to anaphylaxis, a severe and even deadly reaction.

But now there’s help.

New guidelines developed by a panel of experts will help doctors better diagnose and treat food allergies.

More than 43 recommendations are listed, including how to diagnose a food allergy, and which tests are most effective.

The recommendations also include common allergy-causing foods and their symptoms, and how to manage non-life threatening allergic reactions, as well as potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis.

Though it’s unclear why, experts believe food allergies are on the rise.

The most common aggravators include peanuts, tree nuts, seafood, milk, and eggs.

Food allergies are more common in children than adults.

Fortunately, most children will outgrow their allergy to eggs, milk, soy, or wheat.

There is no cure for food allergies. if you think you’ve suffered a reaction to food, talk to your doctor, and be sure your doctor knows about the new guidelines.

Allergies to tree nuts are more often than not lifelong conditions that are potentially life-threatening allergies. Tree nuts are not related to peanuts and belong to various food families that are also not related to each other.
One need not eat the food he is allergic to, to induce an allergic reaction. However, eating it will introduce more amounts of allergens in the body that will cause the most severe of adverse reactions. An allergic reaction to any food allergen normally beings just within minutes and normally lasts less than a day. The higher the degree of your allergy, the smaller the amount of allergen is required to cause the reaction.
