So today at the barn I found four ticks on my horse, they looked like they have been on for a day. I read online that Vaseline would allow them to back out so I could kill them in alcohol.
What are some ways to get ticks off a horse without calling the vet out or burning them off?
Also what can I do to prevent them? it would be awesome to get something natural like feeding garlic power in their feed to prevent flies. I heard once that a vinegar mix would do that but I can't remember exactly what it was.

What are some symptoms of Lyme Disease in horses just so I can watch for it and get the vet out if my gelding starts showing any signs.
