There’s been a Hepatitis a outbreak in Waldo County. State health officials are investigating a third case of the disease in recent weeks. all three people live in Waldo County. Officials say at least one person attended several social functions in different parts of Maine while infected. Maine health director Dr. Dora Mills expects other people may be at risk for contracting the illness and may be showing signs and symptoms in the coming days and weeks. Mills says symptoms may include jaundice, fever, anorexia, fatigue, nausea, dark urine, clay colored stools, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. according to the national CDC Hepatitis a is usually spread when a person ingests fecal matter — even in microscopic amounts — from contact with objects, food, or drinks contaminated by the feces or stool of an infected person.
