About one month ago, I fell in my backyard and hit the back of my head. Since then, I feel dizzy when I hold my head up for too long, begin sweating in the evening and tire easily. I have had an MRI and EEG. What could possibly be wrong?

One of the best place you can contact either on the phone or by Internet, is: askanurse.com
In the website you will find the phone number to called them is if you wish to contact them in person.
"Ask a Nurse" is one the most grown place for medical problem to help around the world and it is free. they have help thousand and thousand of people, they can help you too.

You will talk to a nurse, not just anyone.
God bless you!

WebMD is where I usually go, but if you describe head symptoms that won't go away, the website will tell you to go to your doctor as soon as you can make an appointment. In my experince, it will not advise you as to what you have, only whether or not it may be serious enough to warrant going to the doctor, or even the emergency room.

Well, if nothing came up on your MRI (EEG only has to do with heart beat), then I would go to a neurologist.
But whatever you do, pls dont self-diagnose. just suck up the copay and go to a medical professional.

I've used the site listed below…with medical costs rising, I try to figure out what it is before I go to the doctor. Hope this helps you, but I would definitely get a second opinion on your injury. Head injuries are nothing to play around with. the dizziness could be caused from liquid in the inner ear. the sweating could be "hot flashes". good luck and let us know what you ultimately find out.

The FDA has issued a warning to consumers about the use of benzocaine, the main ingredient in over-the-counter liquids and gels used to reduce teething pain in very young children.

Benzocaine is associated with a rare but serious condition called methemoglobinemia, which greatly reduces the amount of oxygen carried through the bloodstream. In the most severe cases, the condition can be life-threatening.

Benzocaine by various names

Benzocaine gels and liquids are sold under numerous brand names, including Anbesol, Hurricaine, Orajel, Baby Orajel, and Orabase, as well as store brands. It also is sold as lozenges and in spray solutions.

The products are used to treat pain caused by teething, canker sores, and irritation of the mouth and gums.

The FDA says methemoglobinemia has been reported with all strengths of benzocaine gels and liquids, including concentrations as low as 7.5%. The federal agency says most cases occur in children aged 2 or younger who were treated with a gel for teething discomfort.

The FDA says people who develop the condition may become pale or gray, become short of breath, feel fatigued, confused, and lightheaded. It also may cause a rapid heart rate.

Immediately seek medical help for symptoms

Signs and symptoms of a reaction to benzocaine usually appear within minutes to hours of using it. The FDA says adults should seek immediate medical attention if symptoms show up after using benzocaine.

The FDA says benzocaine products should not be given to children younger than age 2 unless under the supervision of a health care professional. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends giving children with teething problems a teething ring that has been chilled in a refrigerator, or gently rubbing the child’s gums with a finger.

Adults who use benzocaine gels or liquids in the mouth should follow recommendations on the label of the product, which should be stored where it can’t be reached by children, the FDA says.

However, the FDA says labels of marketed benzocaine products do not, as of yet, contain warnings about the risks of methemoglobinemia.

The FDA offers these tips for parents:

* if benzocaine products are used, watch carefully for signs and symptoms of methemoglobinemia, including pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, and nail beds. also, shortness of breath, fatigue, confusion, headache, lightheadedness, and rapid heart rate are symptoms of a reaction. if any symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately.

* Keep in mind that problems caused by benzocaine can show up after a single administration of the product.

* Use benzocaine gels and liquids sparingly, and only when needed, and not more than four times a day.

* side effects should be reported immediately to the FDA Medwatch program.

Is there a website that can diagnose symptoms? like you can input or choose from a box of symptoms then the site will tell you the probable diseases you have?

Thanks!

WebMD.com is good, however, I'd suggest asking an actual doctor, either via the phone or a visit.

Webmd.com is very good for this sort of thing

try mayoclinic.com or webMD or cleveland clinic

Hilary Wilson of Duluth, Ga., now 60, was officially diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or RA in 1987, but she is pretty sure she had the inflammatory arthritis long before that.

RA is a chronic disease, marked by inflammation of the lining of the joints. It can lead to chronic joint pain, loss of functioning and disability.

But some people with RA manage to thrive despite their condition – and that describes Wilson. ever since the diagnosis, Wilson has followed a healthy lifestyle designed to keep stress — and her symptoms –under control. She follows the same plan, whether her life is hectic or more relaxed.

“I take steps to help my arthritis, regardless of the stress level,” she tells WebMD. That means taking yoga three days or more a week, walking between 8 and 12 miles weekly, and keeping her weight down (she has some clothes from high school she still fits into).

It also means keeping her sense of humor. “I can’t flex my head back,” she says, as the RA has affected her cervical spine and therefore her neck functioning. It’s not uncommon for people to ask her what’s up with that, but she easily explains and laughs it off. a sense of humor, she discovered, helps minimize stress, too.

Wilson, who works as an independent management consultant and is on the board of the Arthritis Foundation in Georgia, says she has never noticed a link between the amount of stress she is experiencing on the job and a worsening of symptoms. and her healthy lifestyle, focused on managing stress, could well be the reason.

Stress and RA: The Link

The cause of RA remains unknown, according to the Arthritis Foundation. but most experts agree that genetic and environmental factors play a role, including the body’s response to stressors such as physical or emotional trauma. That does not mean, however, that stress alone can cause RA.

“In general, it’s felt that stress does not cause RA,” says Scott Zashin, MD, a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and attending physician at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas.

However, he says, a stressful event, such as the loss of a loved one or marital stress, may trigger the RA to develop at that time. “That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have developed at another time,” he tells WebMD.

Patience H. White, MD, vice president for public health for the Arthritis Foundation agrees. while stress alone will not cause RA, it’s one of many factors that may play into getting the disease and the severity of symptoms.

The picture can become complicated from patient to patient. “Many patients with RA have secondary fibromyalgia,” Zashin says. Fibromyalgia is a body-wide pain condition, with tender points at the joints, muscles, and tendons and other tissues.

How does stress affect inflammation? according to White, the research is mixed on that.

But whatever that relationship, stress can wreak havoc, she says. “When you are stressed, you don’t sleep well,” she says. You can get achy. “People with RA have morning stiffness. if they haven’t slept well, it feels worse. once you get tired, you have no resistance to stress.”

Some facts are indisputable: stress can make pain, and your whole body, feel worse. Chronically high levels of stress aren’t good for anyone.

We’ve all done it — searched medical conditions and symptoms online, hoping to self-diagnose what those mysterious red bumps are, and wishing against all odds that our search offers good news (“Please, please tell me these aren’t bedbug bites”).

Sometimes, the frequency of Internet searches for health information can signal a brewing epidemic. That’s how Google Flu Trends works, for instance — tracking flu-related searches to determine global flu activity.

But more often, what people search for online is simply a reflection of the latest news or gossip, even on medical websites. on Monday, WebMD, which logs more than 83 million visitors per month, released data on the top stories and searches that most held its readers’ interest over the past year. not surprisingly, the site’s most popular story in 2010 was a slideshow about bedbugs, and its top trending search was “bedbugs” (in 2009, the top trending search was “head lice,” suggesting that people really like reading about creepy infestations). (More on TIME.com: How to Build Your Own Bedbug Detector)

WebMD’s second most popular trending search was “throat cancer,” another ripped-from-the-headlines area of interest: in August, actor Michael Douglas announced he was battling throat cancer, and images of his frail frame were splashed on the covers of tabloids. Douglas’ cancer was also the top celebrity-related health topic and the third biggest news story this year on WebMD. last year, it was another celebrity’s health condition that came in second place in the top trending-searches list: “anal cancer.” In June 2009, actress Farrah Fawcett died after a long fight with the cancer.

Rounding out this year’s top five trending searches: in third place, whooping cough (No. 3 was swine flu in 2009); gluten (2009′s acai berry); and vitamin D (taking over from resveratrol last year).
