Allergy symptoms can make everyday tasks difficult. for many, the change in seasons brings an on-set of painful allergy symptoms.
This year is expected to be an aggressive and early pollen season, thanks in part to the heavy winter snow, according to several reports.
But with spring already here, pollen is in the air, meaning allergy sufferers are looking for relief from sneezing, runny noses and watery eyes.
An estimated 60 million people in the United States suffer from allergies, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
“Although you can’t change a person’s genetic makeup, you can alleviate their allergy symptoms by altering the body’s response to allergens,” Steven F. Hotze, M.D., founder and CEO of HHWC told Reuters. “By treating our patients with the very allergens to which they react, similar to an immunization, it desensitizes them to the allergen thus building allergy-blocking antibodies. The key is finding the optimal dose – a balance between one strong enough to produce these good antibodies, but not so strong that it causes a full-blown reaction.”
It is important to note that the amount of inflammation and stress placed on the body’s immune system from untreated allergies increases the risk for serious illness. In fact, allergies are the fifth leading cause of chronic disease in the U.S.
