by Symptom Advice on August 19, 2010

Every month, we bring you an inspiring story from a real person who has selected and stuck to a healthy Recipe for Life.

Caroline Sutherland, author of The Body Knows…How to Stay Young, has an amazing story.

At age 39 she had early signs of multiple sclerosis. she was terrified ~ until she visited a clinic for environmental medicine. she discovered that all of the symptoms were related to food sensitivities. as a result, she was taken off sugar, wheat, dairy and caffeine.  Her symptoms disappeared in 4 weeks. her prescribed diet today is low in carbohydrates with an emphasis on eating plenty of vegetables.

Caroline Sutherland carefully chooses the ingredients that keep her healthy. her Recipe for Life is:

  • Healthy: she exercises and walks
  • Meaty: she loves helping others (as a medical intuitive)
  • Spicy: she loves adventure
  • Sweet: her husband and family keep her grounded
  • Colorful: her church community and friends enrich her mind & spirit
  • Nourishing: she meditates every day for well-being
  • Financially Smart: she helps an abundance of clients

At age 66, Caroline is full of vitality, and her message of balance is promoted in her lectures, on-line teleconferences and through her books. With the help of a balanced diet, healthy lifestyle and bioidentical hormone therapy, she has a powerful recipe for not only herself, but for those she helps in her practice (carolinesutherland.com).

Health and exercise (walking and swimming) is an integral part of Caroline’s recipe and getting centered daily is a part of her overall recipe. as part of her centering routine, Caroline recommends living in “the moment”. she stays present and attentive so that she can reap the rewards, but she also allows herself daily meditation time. her choice of practice made popular by Deepak Chopra called Primordial Sound Meditation.

Her recipe includes a network of friends that she and her husband, Gary, entertain on their boat, and she also embraces her church community. she feels her spiritual base taught her at young age to get connected to the Divine and foster that connection. the meat of her life experience is motivating and helping people every day and she is generous with both her time and talent, as I personally experienced.

Her pillar is her husband and her binder is her family which includes a sister, brothers and daughters and grandchildren. she keeps her recipe spicy with fun and adventure. a chance to take a train, helicopter, parasail or go to foreign movies are small indulgences that she blends with everyday living. Caroline has an attitude of gratitude for her rich and rewarding life.

Now, Caroline Sutherland uses what she’s learned to help others. She’s a medical intuitive. I loved this blog about pollen and seasonal allergies!
