I was hospitalized with menengitis and had to be tested for HIV and Lupus. both results came back negative, but found out since that I have Lyme Disease.
No, the symptoms are really different.
But HIV and Lupus are pretty standard tests when someone has meningitis. They're the worst case causes, so they like to get those ruled out quickly.
lyme disease is from ticks unless the ticks have hiv.
Here is a very good resource for people who have Lyme:

Check out the links in the DIAGNOSIS section.
First, the onset of Lyme disease is quite rapid after the bite of the infected mite. Whereas AIDS is a very slow progressing unnoticable disease at first onset.
The sores which first appear an an AIDS infected person will have great problems in healing. while those of the Lyme infection will heal quite rapidly.
The Lyme infected person feel very badly quite rapidly as if a viral attack has indeed occured. Similar in Rapidness to that of an onset of a cold. Whereas the Aids person will hardly notice the disease progressing at first onset.
Of course, in the end, treated Lumpus symptoms will disappear very rapidly, whereas the AIDS person must be on a cocktail of drugs to even keep the disease in check.
