Crohn's disease?

by Symptom Advice on January 22, 2011

I have crohn's disease which in my opinion is under control, due to my specific carbohydrate diet. However, I have HUGE SUGAR cravings and I am constantly hungry and losing weight. Today I ate every hour and I'm not taking about little meals!!!!! I cannot stop having these cravings for sugar which I resist most of the time. However, when i start eating complex carbs again my crohn's symptoms come back. Ohh yeah Iii'm bloated as well. any one with the same symptoms?

My father had the same symptoms shortly after he was diagnosed with Crohn's, and when he went to his doctor he found out the doctor had failed to give him a specific medication that will control that specific symtom set. I can not rememmer the name of the med though, sorry. I would call your doctor ASAP!!! This could be serious.

Crohn's disease is a rheumatic disease which should be treated with antibiotics and antiinflammatory medications.

Your sugar cravings are a symptom of diabetes, type 2. Is this a side effect of your diet, lack of physical activity or, simply, your medications?

You should consult a Gastroentorologist working in a university teaching hospital who will order blood tests, scans and X-Rays to confirm his diagnosis.

Are there any other cases of Crohn's disease, arthritis or rheumatic diseases among your relatives? Crohn's disease is usually prevalent in families where a defective gene is passed on by parents to their children.

Crohn's disease is a rheumatic disease and there are a few hundred types of arthritis and rheumatic diseases. The good news is that science is progressing rapidly in its understanding of rheumatic diseases.

Antibiotics are now used to achieve full remissions for at least 40%, if not 65% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The same can be done for patients with Crohn's disease. For more info, please join our group at:
