My daughter has had severe lower right quadrant pain for more than 2 weeks and nearly every test (minus barium or a scope). she has no fever, a lower white blood cell count, no noticeable blood in her stools – but diarrhea like water and nausea for more than 6 days. she was seen at the ER of a Children's Hospital and given a referral to GI Doctor. it is not appendicitis or ovarian related. it is in the GI tract – they just haven't diagnosed it. she has been put on Bentyl (for intestinal spasms and pain) and Vicodin for pain. Pain is in the same area as appendicitis. she will be seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist very soon and will undoubtedly have a scope test, like colonoscopy, performed. What do you think it could be? I am scared it may be Crohn's. she has 2 great aunts who had ulcerative colitis.
the pain symptoms sound like what my friend had when he was diagnosed with crohns
though he had blood in his stool
he's 19 now and goes to school with occasional trips to hospital and takes pills every day for it.
he also bleeds very easily. nosebleeds, thin blood, easy bruise
i hope it is not and that they work this out for your daughter.
may the grace and love of God be with you and your family
It sounds like it could be, but I'm not a doctor I had many of those symptoms
I have Crohn's, and once you are diagnosed, it isn't really that bad. I was diagnosed from a colonoscopy, so if your doctor recommends it, it may be beneficial to have one.
Good luck, I hope everything works out okay
I presently have Crohn's Disease, and feel for your daughter. the symptoms can be varying from what your daughter has-with or without bloody diarrhea. I would have her stay away from any raw fruits or vegetables for the exception of bananas. they shouldn't bother her, and they have lots of potassium as well as other vitamins and minerals. all so, have her stay away from foods with any seeds, skins, all nuts, popcorn, anything with irritating fiber in it. the sigmoid ostocopy, along with the barium enema will diagnose what her problem is. I've had Crohn's since about the age of 15 or 16. I'm now 46 years old. I've had my ups and downs with it. Both of you must ask questions when you don't understand something about the disease or it's treatment. Read and learn all you can about it. Treatment for Croan's has come along way. my prayers are with you two.
I have Chrons's Disease for about 7 years and sounds to me like it may be a combination of Celiac Sprue & Chron's
try looking up both of these disases and ask your your doctor to rule them out to you per say. I would have her stay away from Gluten & Gluten by-products including ( wheat, rye, barley, & oats) read closely to ingredients containg these products, this will cause major fare ups.
