Does this sound like more than mild pancreatitis?

by Symptom Advice on November 25, 2010

I've had several bouts of mild pancreatitis in the last few months and for the past 2 days I've been having all the pancreatitis symptoms; extreme nausea, stomachache, fatigue and just sore all over particularly my upper right side. I had appendicitis a few years ago so it's not that. anyways with the pancreatitis I've been taking the meds I had left over from my last bout. When I've had pancreatitis in the past it usually goes away in a day but this time I've been sick for longer than a day. does it sound like more than mild pancreatitis?

Pancreatitis discomfort can last for a few days or months. If it goes to the chronic stage from repeated bouts, it can be a daily occurance. Not sure what meds you are taking, but it appears you need to be give prescription digestive enzymes to allow your pancreas to rest so your condition doesn't go to the chronic stage. You also need to watch your fats, red meats, raw veggies, certain fruits and definately never have an alcohol. Not even mouthwash that contains a high amount of alcohol. Your pancreatitis attacks could also be accompanied by sphincter of oddi dysfunction and that's what is causing the right sided pain. Many times these two things go hand in hand. Drink plenty of fluids and watch your diet closely and hopefully this latest attack will pass soon. If it doesn't and you need a good support group, go to the following link. Good Luck.
