Has your cat or neighbours cat suddenly become ill with sore mouth/nose. Generally unwell, not eating or drinking? My 2 cats, + neighbouring cats have all shown symptoms, + i am very curious to know if there is a feline epidemic around the country? My 2 are currently under vet treatment, but i am quite worried as to the nature/outcome of this mysterious type of virus.
I would be most grateful if somebody out there could help shed some light on my concerns, or tell me of a similar occurence/outcome of their experiences?
Many thanks.

I'm in California. Haven't heard anything about it.

Maybe there is something going on in your region.

Thank you for getting your babies to the vet for treatment.

Horrid thought, but is someone putting out poisoned food? or are the cats eating poisoned vermin like mice, rats?
Especially as the mouth and nose are involved.

ask your vet about FIV…it is similar to HIV only in felines….very serious virus…talk to your vet! good luck!

NO, but my cat has been getting sick too. not with the same symptoms though. Ours can't stand up and blats like no tommorow. We gave her codine and she finally went to sleep. She has been doing this on and off all summer. We hope this is the last time. Hope your cat is doing better!! :/

I can't give any different information on what everyone else is saying because it could be any of the above. I had an experience with a neighbour who didn't like cats and tried to poison mine. do you have any particular neighbours that may do that? As everyone else says, go to vet's asap. Good luck and I hope they're okay.

are you sure its a virus? those symptoms could possibly be a reaction to something in the neighbour hood, for example, any type of common gardening sprays used on lawns, types of fertiliser, even some soils have chemicals poisonous to animals, insecticides, plant food pellets, slug pellets have a more severe reaction in animals…could also account for other cats in the neighbour hood having the same symptoms as cats tend to congregate in similar places, are they sneezing at all, any coughing these are generally signs associated with viruses, is it cat flu??? that's the most common or maybe a form of bronchitis? good luck with your cats hope they get well soon…
