Diet plays a big part in the behaviour of children who have been diagnosed with ADHD. Colours and preservatives play a bit part and is something that you should research. there are many books around about these things and I am sure if you are in a position that maybe a natural therapist would also be of assistance.
There is also a program called The Dore Program and that also is said to help.

its not so much managing symptoms as it is working your life around it.
eg. i do work in a room with no tv, radio, cell phone etc. that can distract me and i sometimes make games in my mind during a conversation to keep me engaged
