How to diagnose for a worn out plunger on starter motor ? What are symptoms and signs of a worn out plunger ?
thanks
Hmm, this has happened to me methinks, as in all engines, the answer lies in the symptons.
sometimes the car starts and other times it dont. It makes a sound that mechanics call a "hunting" sound. most starter motors are somewhat servicable. The copper strips around the plunger could be black with sooty deposits, clean with a medium Emery cloth, being careful not to scratch them, then put it back to test it.
