Launching the 2011 Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month (OCAM) in March, the charity is calling on men and women of all ages to be aware of the main symptoms of ovarian cancer, share that information with friends and family by talking about the disease openly, and to then visit their GP for a check up if concerned.
With 6,700 cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed each year in the UK, the charity states that many women could be treated successfully if they get to a doctor quickly. so, as women are known to enjoy a chat, Ovarian Cancer Action is calling on them to start talking about the important things in life – our bodies, and any changes or symptoms we have noticed. They need attention, and are not to be ignored.
Ovarian Cancer Action thinks “Everyone should talk about it” when it comes to the symptoms of ovarian cancer:
- Persistent tummy pain
- Increased tummy size
- Persistent bloating
- Feeling full quickly
Do take advice form your GP.
