I have shooting pin pain in my upper right abdominal area, is this a symptom of pancreatic cancer or disease?
Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer, as it does not cause any visible symptoms in early stage. Symptoms are manifested only when the tumor has grown to a sufficiently large size.
1. Unexplained loss of weight and appetite: With the cancer cells drawing most of the nutrition depriving the body, there will be an unexplained loss of weight and appetite.
2. Generalized fatigue
3. Sensation of pain in the upper abdomen or back pain.
4. Hepatitis (yellowish discoloration of the eyes and skin, dark urine)
These symptoms are not specific for pancreatic cancer, and can be caused due to other conditions such as infection. Consult your physician if any of the above symptoms appear.

you really dont get symptoms from pancreatic cancer. but a friend of grandpas had this (he's doing fine) had a doctor that was able to have tube go straigth through his throat down directly to his pancreas and inject chemotherapy right to the cancer. After a couple months or so the cancer was reduced completely and the doctors were able to perform an almost 8 1/2 hour surgery ( i think that was the lenght of time) that was able to remove what was left of the cancer. I think he is doing really well right now.
The symptoms my family member experienced were chronic and generalized abdominal pain, and over a few months that pain spread to his back and shoulders. Weight loss was also extensive, as the cancer can prevent the digestion of food. My loved one also started to experience severe itching all over the body, although he showed no signs of a yellowing skin type of jaundice.
Abdominal pain can indicate many things, some serious and some that are not so serious. Be sure to visit with your doctor to find the cause of the discomfort. sometimes that means ruling things out, rather than directly diagnosing, at first.
